A very happy surprise in the Charentes region
On our way back to the UK from the Landes region, we had decided to make a detour to visit the Gallo-Roman Thermal Baths of Cassinomagus (a definite must-see for anyone passing in the region), and we picked the Domaine de la Grange de Quaire as our overnight stopover a few minutes away.
If our next stop had not already been booked we would happily have spent several days here as the property is beautiful and its location stunning.
Our spacious room was on the first floor and nicely decorated, with guests given free run of the large downstairs living + dining room area (the owner occupies a separate wing of the property). Wifi signal is reasonable given the remoteness.
The house is in the middle of a large park and has a big terrace at the back of it, again freely accessible.
The owner made us feel extremely welcome and was happy to provide dining recommendations when asked and we enjoyed a very nice dinner less than 10 minutes away.
In the morning he prepared a hearty (and fresh) breakfast (to be had in the dining room or on the terrace) which set us up nicely for the drive ahead.
Definitely one of the nicest B&Bs we have stayed in in France, and one we will happily revisit for longer on a future trip.
