We were in town for just a few days and wanted to stay near the Battery. We found this hotel and the pictures and reviews were amazing. We didn't mind spending $1500 even though we could've spent half that on a nice hotel elsewhere in the city. We thought we were going to love it and really wanted to. Unfortunately we were disappointed.
Before going any further, let me say that Ryan was amazing and very helpful with questions. With that said, the problem was the room itself. We were placed in the bowels of the hotel underneath the porch in what I constantly referred to as the sarcophagus. Anytime someone walked on the porch it reverberated in our room. You could hear talking and people returning drunk from a night out. It was miserable and I would never stay in that room, or any of the other rooms in the "sarcophagus" again.
The property feels a little long in the tooth and needs maintenance and refreshed. The paint on the area outside the café was peeling badly. We had problems with our plumbing in the room (sarcophagus 6). The cold water in the sink and shower would just stop for a few seconds and then spit and sputter and come back on. This also happened with the toilet. Every time it was flushed the cold water going into the tank would make a horrendous noise refilling the tank.
Also, I was very disappointed in the parking, which was on the street, and not on the property as we'd expected.
