Volterra is a sizable town and on the tourist trail for people coming in from Florence for sure, but we still had no trouble getting restaurant reservations and things were much more quiet in the evenings.」

「In general a very basic hotel. I booked a Junior Suite (as the booking price then was the same as a standard room, but bormally it’s not). The extra space though did not contribute in any way to more comfort, actually just a greater distance to the small and worn out bathroom. Don’t get fooled by the pictures, the “decor” in the room not very appealing. Breakfast was the worst I had so far in Italy.
