Built by the Japanese in WWII, it was also used by the French during the Indochina War, and the Viet Cong during the Vietnam War. Well worth walking around the fort and you also get stunning views from around Cat Ba. #packsandaplan
How amazing is this view? This is what I see the moment I get out of bed. Scratch that, if I turn my head just a little FROM MY BED this is what I see. And at $5 a night, I'm definitely not complaining. I've found my happy place!

Room was clean, front desk was cheerful. She was able to help organizing a taxi, renting scooters. Location was superb, beautiful large windows that opened. Breakfast was average.

This was a great little place to stay on Cat Ba. When we went it was just the start of the tourism season, and there were a lot of building works next door. The layout of the hotel is lovely but there are a LOT of stairs - ours ended up on the 4th floor with no lift available! The staff very kindly ...
