My husband and I stayed at the Al Madarig over the New Year. The hotel was very modern and clean, while situated on an ancient landscape with nearby castle. We enjoyed the Mediterranean views from our balcony in the mornings, and dining in excellent local restaurants near the harbor at night. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. We especially enjoyed the breakfast that was served each morning; which included: fresh eggs, fruit, an assortment of cakes and desserts, oven baked fresh bread and panini's-and my favorite-fresh ricotta cheese every morning! We will definately go back to this wonderful hotel experience!

The best place to stay in Castellammare! Everything about our stay was perfect. The location is great because the hotel is close to the port, restaurants, the piazza, and beaches. They even offer a shuttle to the beach. The hotel offered a beautiful Sicilian breakfast. The hotel was clean and well decorated. The entire staff was so helpful. Mariella, Francesco, and Marco were so attentive to offer local recommendations. Marco even helped us book a boat trip at the last minute one Sunday! I will definitely be returning to Hotel al Madarig.

This is our third time staying at this hotel; I try to bring my wife here for her birthday or our anniversary. The biggest change was the parking situation. In previous years parking was always allowed in front of the hotel. This year there were two parking areas that were split between the hours of the day. So, if you wanted to park for free, you could park in front of the hotel from 8am (0800) to 8pm (2000), and then along the main street for free from 8pm to 8am. This was a massive distraction for persons on vacation wishing to relax. Secondly, I initially booked for three nights but departed following the second night (for other reasons). Likely my own fault for not voicing this with the staff, but it would have been nice to have been refunded the third night, especially as a repeat customer. The hotel itself is really nice. If anything I wish the air conditioning would remove just a tad bit more of the humidity, but we were comfortable enough.

Dear Guest thank you for choosing our Hotel for the 3rd time. I'm pleased to hear that you had a confortable stay. On the contrary, I'm very sorry for the bother about moving the car. The fact is that the hotel is situated in a limited traffic zone. We guarante the parking in front of the building during the day until 8.00 pm and a free parking area a few meters from the hotel after that time. What else should we do? Excellent Staff
We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Madarig. The staff was excellent. The front desk clerk taught my 9 year old son an Italian phrase everyday. Above and beyond friendliness. At breakfast a staff member looked out for my son everyday with his decaf cappuccino. The location is fantastic. Convenient to lots of restaurants. We truly enjoyed our stay .

Our Stay at Castelmare Del Gulfo
Hotel is locates in an excellent area. All Restaurants are walking distance and beach also close. If you have a car there is also plenty to see and visit around this area.

Good hotel
Good hotel, a bit quaint, but in a good way. Helpful and friendly staff, nothing was too much trouble, and everything was done with a smile. Cleanliness was good. Room size ok to good. Breakfast is reasonable, everything you'd want. Great location, very close to beach, and restaurants. In a good area generally. We really enjoyed our stay.

A very comfortable stay
We spent our last night in Sicily at a hotel Al Madarig. The room was very quiet & comfortable - lovely bedlinen & everything was spotlessly clean. We were greeted very graciously when we arrived & also when we checked out. The only weakness I’d say was the quality of the breakfast. We spent the morning of our final day on a beautiful beach with sunlounger & parasol not far from the hotel. We would stay there again & can recommend it to those visiting the area.

Nice hotel and very central.
The tiles in the shower need attention and the flooring around the wardrobe is discoloured. The room was a bit dated. Breakfast was excellent. Lots of choices, fresh food and lovely coffee.

Lovely pleasant stay
Very easy, welcoming check in. We had a lovely room at the end of the second floor overlooking the sea so it was quiet. The room had been refurbished to be a modern polished concrete floor with minimalistic furniture but was well appointed & clean. There was an air conditioning failure in the hotel one night but the staff resolved it as quickly as they could. The breakfast room is light & airy with a great selection of continental breakfast.

Great location and great staff!
This property is located in the quiet part of town but near several restaturants and stores. The marina is a nice 3 -4 minute walk where the locals gather for the catch of the day. The marina has numerous restaurants that offer excellent selections.

Peaceful haven in the middle of paradise
The hotel was a great base for discovering Erice, Marsala, Segesta, and Palermo. But the best part was the fishing village of Castelemare del Golfo. Our stay was in early June and the summer crowds had not arrived yet, but the town was very walkable and just steps from the hotel. We are coming back! The hotel itself was clean, safe, had some parking, and excellent breakfast. Mariella, Ivan and the other desk staff could not have been more helpful with questions about local restaurants, sights and airport details. Our rooms faced the back courtyard which was good as we like quiet rooms and often nap in the afternoons. The front rooms face the square and the sea. I am sure that there is lots of nightlife there in the summertime which might come with some noise. But our rooms were very comfortable with nice sized showers and bathrooms. Rooms also have safes and good storage for luggage and clothing. There is an elevator as well. Free WiFi which was good. 30 minute and 50 Euro taxi ride to Palermo's airport. We are already planning our return there!

Excellent hotel in great location
We really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Al Madarig. The location was excellent - on the side of a large piazza - and right on the waterfront The rooms were large and clean, with a lovely desk and view of the sea. We were very happy with the service at reception - especially as we left a kindle behind and they were very helpful about sending it on to us. Oh, and the breakfast was very good. Definitely worth staying here if visiting Castellammare del Golfo.

Great location but a bit on the drab side
Easy to find and helpful parking at this pleasant seaside town. Room was clean and bed was comfortable but had expected a bit more, given attractive exterior and pricey compared to other, better hotels on west coast of Sicily. Breakfast was plentiful but not as good as other places we stayed; dining area felt like a works canteen, all self service and even coffee served by machine. All in all, it did the job but felt somewhat underwhelmed by this slightly drab experience, given the price.

Friendly hotel, situated in good spot
The hotel is situated to the side of the Piazza, with the steep steps down to the beach under 100 yards from the hotel door. There is also numerous restaurants within a few hundred yards all very good and friendly. There are three cliff top restaurants one behind the hotel and two in front of the hotel one within sight of the hotel and the other just behind it. There is a golf buggy service for 10.00EUR for 2 people return to a larger beach only minutes away, they recommend you go to Peter Pan Resort and provide a 10% discount card if you use this facility. The Harbour is only a short walk as is the quaint town where you have access to ATM's or countless shops and cafes.

Nice hotel, fantastic views!
We stayed here one night and found this hotel really charming. It is situated right on the coast and there are lovely views. Our room had a small balcony from which we could see the plaza area, the ocean and the town. The staff was extremely helpful and charming! The rooms are not quite as up to date as you would find in American hotel chains, but that was truly part of the charm. Great location from which to walk and explore the town and harbor. The small beach area was pretty to look at from our room, but rather disappointing and shabby on closer look. Not much there except A LOT of litter; no beach chairs, umbrellas or places to get drinks or snacks.

We found this hotel to be very noisy. They have a large banquet facility. If there is a party in this facitly the noise penetrates in the rooms. Also noise from hallways and other guests in hallways was noisy.

Seaside in Castellammare
Excellent location on the sea and in front of a lovely piazza lined with palm trees and benches. Staff was friendly and helpful. Single room is slightly small but clean and well-equipped with a large terrace over-looking the sea. Recommended.

Great hotel
We really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Al Madarig. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the hotel rooms were clean and comfortable . The breakfast was delicious with a huge selection so even if you stayed for a while you woulldn't get bored with it. There were many choices of restaurants within walking distances. We had a car and had to park on the street but there always seemed to be room for us nearby. Our room looked out on the sea and we had a beautiful view of it and the square. Square got a little busy and noisy at times but settled down by late night. Definitely a great place to stay and reasonably priced.

Lovely hotel, helpful, well dressed staff in casual uniforms, with clean bedrooms and public spaces, hotel has an air of sophistication, class and “roominess". Situated in heart of old town overlooking piazza, easy walking distance to everything you will want. Hotel serves lunches an evening dinner in covered area outside overlooking sea. Chefs serve some of the best food we tasted in Sicily.

Good hotel, but a noise problem
We liked the location and view of the sea. Castelammare del Golfo is a town in a good location, with wonderful restaurants with good local seafood. The one problem we had with the hotel was that it fronted on a piazza that is a gathering place for young people, who zip in and out on their motorscooters and motorcycles until late at night. Saturday night was the worst, with the blasting music from a dance-club on the piazza going until 4:30 a.m. Nevertheless, we liked the town and hotel well enough to recommend staying at Al Madarig.

Este hotel es una joya, situado en la plaza que ve al mar en el bello Castell mare ! Desde él se puede ir caminando a todo el pueblo, restaurantes, puerto, playas, etc El desayuno es muy bueno El personal de recepción es sumamente amable. Lo recomendamos muchísimo!

Accueil agressif, vue trompeuse (la mer est sur le côté), réfrigérateur défectueux, parking non proposé, climatisation hors service, bruit excessif la nuit, odeur d'humidité et coupure d'électricité. Un hôtel 3 étoiles qui ne mérite même pas une étoile. Le seul point positif reste le petit déjeuner qui est varié et complet avec une petite terrasse. À éviter absolument si vous ne voulez pas gâcher vos vacances.
