When I booked this hotel, I made it clear I was visiting to celebrate my birthday in Carmel and asked for advice on which room to choose since I’m a light sleeper and struggle with insomnia. They said they couldn’t guarantee anything but would try to accommodate me.
Instead, I was shocked to be given the noisiest room. One window faced the lobby, with guests constantly passing by. The other window and wall faced the outdoor restaurant, where diners were literally inches from our room. We couldn’t open any of the blinds.
As a result, we were kept awake by staff working at the restaurant, and endure people talking loudly just an inch away from our ears.
This is simply unacceptable. The room looked recently renovated, but none of that made up for a terrible stay. I expected far better and left disappointed. For a weekday rate of $600 per night, you’re better off booking somewhere else that truly delivers a premium experience.
