Great location to stay right in the centre of town and basically next to the Cathedral area. Room was comfortable and nicely appointed. We had dinner in the bar, very friendly staff and decent food. Breakfast in he morning was equally nice - it is a beautiful old building and these areas were lovely. For us also useful that it had parking included. A very nice play to stay in Carlisle.

Surprisingly large hotel. Lovely helpful staff. Good breakfast. Right in the centre of Carlisle. Close to Cathedral. Parking was available for us but is somewhat limited so don’t rely on it. City centre was having a makeover so immediate surroundings were chaotic. Sound insulation in the room was poor.

Booked for one night for a work night out. The building is lovely and ideally located near the city centre, though there are major construction works happening outside. The room was adequate, with a nice powerful shower, but there were signs of mould and it could use some updating. The staff, especially the night porter, were very helpful and made our stay more pleasant.

We arrived for an overnight stay at the Crown and mitre on April 30/2025 . The first room we had ( 303 ) wasn’t at all to our liking or what we had expected it was old, tired and in need of some TLC . Thankfully to the Hotel Manager Ellie we moved to a room on the second floor . We were really delighted with our new room on it was evident that this room had been refurbished it also had the most beautiful and comfortable bed we had a great sleep . The Hotel has a fantastic indoor swimming pool and Sauna . We would definitely return the Crown and Mitre ( room on second floor ) as the location is perfect for all the local shops and amenities . The location is excellent and the staff superb. My room was a bit time worn, but quiet and clean for a great night's sleep. Just a few steps to great cafés and restaurants. Definitely visit Bordo Lounge!
