Elle sera restaurée en 1884 par l'architecte Jean-Camille Formigé qui évaluera la dépense à plus de 1400 Francs (3000 à 5000 euros d'aujourd'hui) ; la commune recevra 300 Francs de subvention, le reste étant à sa charge. Déplacée en 1980, cette lanterne des morts du XIIe siècle est aujourd'hui,hui située au centre du village. L'ouverture à la base de la colonne, et les encoches pratiquées à l’intérieur permettaient d’accéder au lanternon et d’y allumer une lampe.
