Pros: The massage was excellent and easily the highlight of the stay. Staff were friendly and generally attentive, the nightly entertainment was enjoyable, and the excursion recommendations from staff led to some of the best moments of the trip. Cons: The arrival experience set the wrong tone. After a long travel day and completing check-in, we were asked to sit for a 15–20 minute conversation to schedule a membership sales presentation the next morning. It was framed as an orientation on resort amenities, which felt misleading. After hours of travel, we just wanted to get to our room. The first room had a strong chemical smell. We seemed to be the only ones acknowledging it and were offered air freshener and then an air purifier before ultimately being moved to another room within about 30 minutes. The second room still had an intermittent sewage smell coming from the bathroom when the AC wasn’t running heavily. In-room amenities were limited, and the room service food was unfortunately very poor. Food and cocktails across the resort were generally mediocre. The pools were also underwhelming—especially the Diamond Club pool, which is quite small. Because the property is built vertically, elevators are required to get around. Unfortunately, they were extremely slow and small, creating frequent bottlenecks throughout the day. Overall, the staff were kind and helpful when issues were raised, but several operational details kept the experience from feeling polished.

DO NOT STAY HERE. I can’t stress this enough. If you value luxury and cleanliness, this is not the place for you. Check-in is extremely long, even with online pre-check-in. You can’t access your room until 3 PM, and then you have to check in again to get your key—a completely redundant process. When we finally got to the room, the key didn’t work, forcing another trip to the desk. Staff immediately push a sales rep on you, pressuring you to attend a “breakfast” that’s really a 90-minute sales seminar with coupons and discounts you won’t need or use. The rooms are dirty, with showers and sinks smelling like sewage. Beds and towels also smelled bad, and our group experienced the same issues. Electricity kept going out, requiring a staff member to reset a breaker in the hallway multiple times. There’s no bottled water—only refillable glasses in hallway stations (I didn’t trust this)—and bars don’t provide straws, making drinks like piña coladas difficult to enjoy. Food was so bad that I barely ate my entire trip, though fresh omelets at breakfast were decent. Most staff were rude and unhelpful. The only positives are the location, pool parties, and balcony views, but they don’t make up for the disorganized, dirty, and frustrating experience. Avoid this resort. Good location if you want to stay close to the action in the Zona Hotelera. However, be aware that regular all-inclusive price doesn’t include drinks in the top floor where this hotel holds their pool parties. That probably was the reason why all parties there were very poorly attended.

Overall, my stay was good. The beach view from the balcony was my favorite part—it was beautiful. The room was clean; however, my only complaint was a sewer-like smell coming from the shower. The food options were great, and the food itself was good. The beer selection, on the other hand, was very limited. I was also disappointed that they served Pepsi instead of Coca-Cola and did not offer bottled water, only refillable containers. Overall, I would recommend this hotel for first-time visitors, but personally, I would not book another stay here.

Overall, we had an amazing time here and would definitely return. Starting with check in — we had diamond club and it was smooth, easy and seamless. This was the same for check out. We arrived on a Saturday and met our butler (Daniel and Steff). Our room was not ready so we went to the pool to wait (we packed bathing suits in our carry on). The DC pool & beach and the regular pool & beech were both PACKED! There wasn’t a single available chair and this was around 1130am. We managed to find 2 chairs by the “jetted” pool and stayed there. They had food available at munchies as well as the poolside grill. We ventured up to Level 18 rooftop to find ourselves all alone at a foam party (it was actually kinda cool having the place to ourselves). DC members get drinks included up there and we never had any issues with overcrowding on the rooftop (although they weren’t always open) Sunday was still a little crowded but we got to the pool early with plenty of seats available and as the week went on, it got even better. The temperature of the pools was pretty cold (we went the last week of Feb) but the ocean was quite enjoyable. Our wish was that there was atleast 1 hot tub on site, other than the sauna. The room we had was a lagoon view and it was perfect for us. It was clean and staff was always attentive if we needed them. Shower was big and the bed was comfortable. There was a slight foul smell from the faucet and shower water though — brush your teeth with the bottled w

We had a wonderful time. The entertainment staff, especially Nelly and Harim were great! They took time to visit with us and made our stay extra special. We loved participating in the Aqua Zumba!

I am a 60 year old man and haven’t left a negative review before. However, I need to share my February 2026 experience during a short stay if it can help protect someone else. At first, the resort seemed decent, but my problems started on night two when I was aggressively propositioned by a young male at the Lobby bar on night two. He indicated that he wanted to take me to my room and do explicit things to me. I politely declined, but he persisted. I immediately left and decided to order room service for dinner to avoid him. I was pretty upset the next day and believe his true intentions may have been to rob me in the room. I decided to report the situation and asked if I could leave the resort early. The young manager was nice and thanked me for filing the report. She indicated I could leave early, but the refund could take months. I needed to leave and had no choice. Thankfully I was able to get into another resort that morning. Things turned even uglier when I was trying to leave due to my $110 gift shop charge. They had a large man from the hotel lobby staff make it clear that he would bring me back in the building to pay this charge even though they owed me money. I gave give him $120 cash outside and was allowed to leave. Although they refused to allow my uber inside the resort gates which they had earlier and made me walk out to the road. Be aware of this resort and its clientele. I highly recommend any Iberostar resort.

My boyfriend and I had a wonderful stay at the Royalton Chic. The room was modern, clean and beautifully designed. Food was good, I especially enjoyed the hot wings and quesadillas at the sports bar!! Drinks were great. Foam pool party was so much fun and The beach was clean. 10/10 for us! I would definitely recommended this hotel!

The service was not the best. There were not enough servers or bartenders and they were not very friendly. The upgrade to Diamond club was NOT worth it. We had to wake up early if we wanted to get a seat on the beach or pool. There was not a lot to do on the resort other than sit on the beach or by the pool. The food was not great. We were not a fan that all restaurants required a reservation but the time slots got filled really quickly so it was hard to get a reservation. The elevators were also extremely slow so it took forever to get around the resort.

When we arrived at the hospitality appeared over the top, however, then we were directed to a marketing person. That was almost insistent on getting me to class to talk about a membership with a hotel. They were persistent. I ended attending. I expended two hours of my vacation time to hear this promotion where they wanted to sell a membership for five and 10 years at 9000 and $14,000 definitely not worth it. Empty bottles and glasses were found on the beach. It was difficult to get towel service. Their bathroom where they meet their prime members didn’t have toilet paper at one point in time at fecal matter on the floor. Their highlighted restaurants had low quality food. The steakhouse called Hunter had a sirloin that was tough to cut that I couldn’t even eat it. And it lacked flavor. There is steamed seafood restaurant was on the rooftop and it looked like a club. The presence in the vibe was very poor and the quality of food was not good. They want to be a high-end hotel and offer VIP services but have a lot of work to do. I decided I won’t even go back. There are plenty of other hotels in Mexico that have lovely people, great restaurants, and are clean.
