Tired room in need of an update. Room not cleaned or serviced during 2 night stay. Waste bins not emptied and milk cartons not replenished- had to ask for milk on second morning. Staff friendly and obliging

Overall I really liked my stay. However as someone travelling for business maybe not the best. Within my room I could hear the bar which went on until 11.30 also the guest in the room next to me. Really not the best nights sleep

Excellent As Always

Another great stay at The Red Lion. It never disappoints. A lovely, spacious room with a comfy bed. Great food, both dinner & breakfast, and friendly, helpful staff. There was a slight hiccup with our room when we first arrived but, after speaking to a member of staff, the problem was quickly rectified.

A teapot in the room says it all! Attention to detail and staff friendliness made my stay really enjoyable. Food awesome. Reasonable charges. On 480 bus route that goes to Bolton and Bury. Great dog walks: Holcombe hill and Peel tower and the Jumbles. We had a good time! Thank you

For the standard of the room the cost £250.00 was very very expensive, The room was a basic double room and was overpriced by at least £125.00. If it hadnt been an emergancy l would not have stayed and will certainty not do so again.

Red Lion proved an excellent choice!

Very friendly and welcoming staff. The Red Lion met all expectations after telephone conversation at time of booking few months earlier. Plenty of parking space available on site. Double room was good size with plenty of storage and seating. Comfortable bed. Very clean room. Light and airy, well stocked tray for tea/coffee etc. A good size bathroom with plenty of quality towels. A stool would have been appreciated there, as we are elderly and legs not so good ! Good breakfast choices and excellent menu for lunch and dinner. Very speedy service from well trained and very friendly staff. Large veranda to the rear provides comfortable additional outside seating in warm weather. plenty of cosy seating in the spacious inside area. Very happy with our two night stay and would certainly recommend. Ran a guest house ourselves for many years and know well the hard work involved in making a success of the business. Well done Red Lion staff!

Very little to dislike or find fault with, overall very good value. The staff and food were very good. The only slight negatives were doors, the main door into the room was a little fidly to open, especially after a few drinks 😉, and the bathroom door was sticking. Would definitely stay there again when you visit that area.

Not as good as previous stays

Stayed here before, great location and restaurant. Room needs a good dust, you can see it all on the wallpaper. Hairdryer was missing which meant I had to leave with wet hair as we left before the pub opened. Radiator vibrates every time traffic went by, which kept me awake - we’ve never had this happen before but we were in a different room.

A pleasant surprise

A hidden gem! Stopped here for a night on route to Cardiff for the Oasis reunion tour. Totally exceeded our expectations. It was a lovely friendly place, with nicely renovated features, tasty food and great value (Mon-Thurs 3 courses for £20). The breakfast was exceptional also. A great stay and excellent value for money
