A Serene Countryside Retreat Near Bruges and Knokke Our stay was nothing short of magical. Tucked away in a quiet, pastoral setting, the property offered a haven of peace and natural beauty. We woke each morning to birdsong and rustling leaves, a gentle invitation to begin the day slowly and mindfully. Breakfast was a highlight—served in the garden on fine china, it was both elegant and satisfying. Every detail was thoughtfully prepared, with care taken to accommodate dietary preferences. Fresh bread, local cheeses, and homemade jam set the perfect tone for a relaxed morning. The grounds are lush and green, with plenty of cozy spots to sit, read, or simply take in the stillness. From the flower-trimmed hedges to the inviting chairs tucked beneath the trees, every corner invites you to breathe and unwind. The hosts were warm, attentive, and genuinely kind, offering helpful tips while also allowing us privacy to enjoy the space. This was the ideal base for exploring both Bruges and Knokke, yet we found ourselves equally content just staying in and enjoying the tranquility. Pastoral, peaceful, and filled with quiet charm—this place is a true gem.

Magnifique endroit

Très bel endroit, apaisant et atypique ! Les hôtes sont bienveillants et très aimables. Excellent petits déjeuner et bien que nous ayons réserver au dernier moment, nous avons pu avoir un petit déjeuner sans gluten et sans lactose.

Ancient house with a couple of rooms for guests. Outstanding garden and with living room space available. Certain areas require some dexterity (XVIII sec design…). Super if you want to stay just outside Bruges and at short distance from the cozy village of Lissewege. Host was exquisite.

Treasured stay!

We had an amazing two days here! The hosts were so thoughtful and welcoming. We met family there and the hosts were so accommodating of our large group. The house is an incredible 300 year old place- so quaint and well decorated. We spent a lovely evening drinking wine on the back patio. Axel’s breakfasts were delicious! It is just a short walk into town for dinner or 5 km to Bruges so the location is great! The area is beautiful. We will definitely go back.

Unique stay

Very kind, talkative and supportive owner, unique 300y old facility but you should be inform about some negative aspects (musty and dump air in the room, not appropriate for small kids, mybe some air fresher reccomended). Exellent restaurant in walking distance, great environment for your doggy. However, do not be surprise that you have to pay additional fee for your pet - €30 per night (?).

It was a real pleasure to share Axel and Guys home a most original b&b from the quirky stairs to the help yourself drinks cellar. A beautiful home made breakfast which was different every day. Spending time in the peaceful garden at the end of the day was a delight. I would recommend to anyone looking for an out of town location.

Sehr schönes uriges Haus mit einer grossen gartenanlage. Frühstücken ist draußen möglich. Die gastgeberin ist künstlerlin, dass sieht man an der sehr geschmackvollen Einrichtung. Sehr leckeres frühstück. Sehr zu empfehlen ist das nahegelegene Restaurant Peppermole. Lage ist sehr gut, fa Brügge und die strände va 20 Minuten mit dem auto entfernt sind.

Grande deception

Très décevant. La chambre est sombre et les lampes éblouissent. Ce choix de couleur sombre bleue foncée associée à des éclairages éblouissant est très étonnant et bien désagréable. Ça ne tient pas de l'éclairage tamisé et intime mais plutôt d'une sensation de cécité éblouie par la cataracte qui nous prépare à une avancé dabs le grand âge. D'autant plus que la montée des escaliers est scabreuse et ressemble à des escaliers de grenier. Le beau feu de cheminée promis sur la photo du site est absent ou il est allumé le matin au petit-déjeuner sans suffire à réchauffer l'atmosphère. Le beau bain à remous dehors promis sur la photo du site est hors service. Bref, un séjour bien sombre dans tous les sens du terme. Seul point positif un petit-déjeuner Royal frais et maison. Qui n'a cependant pas suffit à faire passer la mauvaise pilule

We had the best time at Pronkenburg! It felt like home away from home! The place is beautiful!!! The rooms are very comfortable, impeccably clean and perfectly stocked with all toiletries and luxurious bath robes. The entire place is so cozy you don't feel like leaving. Our hostess is most welcoming and accommodating. She really makes her guest feel special. Every detail in home was looked over including special care in regards to security due to the pandemic. The bedrooms, the living room, the beautiful fireplace both in our room and in the living room and the outdoor garden are exquisite! We will definitely come back hopefully many times! Highly recommend to anyone who wants to visit Bruges and enjoy the beautiful nature of the area.
