Mixed Experience – Helpful Staff but Several Drawbacks
The staff were excellent—friendly and as helpful as they could be. Dining was a highlight, with good quality food at both breakfast and dinner.
However, there were several drawbacks. Parking on Friday night was a major issue. The small public car park behind the pub was full, and on-street parking was extremely limited. Given the number of nearby pubs, bars, and restaurants, this is likely a recurring problem—not a one-off. The website’s claim of “plentiful parking” is misleading.
The rooms are located at the back of the pub, above the kitchen, and accessed via an outdoor staircase that’s dirty, smelly, and appears to be used for other purposes—definitely not a great first impression. While the hallway to the rooms was better, and the room itself was clean, ours had only small skylights, making it feel quite claustrophobic. Ventilation was poor, and the room became unbearably hot—especially when we had to close the skylights due to loud music from a neighboring pub. Fortunately, staff provided a fan, which helped.
In summary, this spot is acceptable for a basic overnight stay, but I’d recommend avoiding weekends if you’re driving, due to the parking situation and potential noise.
