"A group of 6 of us, including two from Usa are full of compliments.
A lovely family run business. Very clean throughout. Lovely welcome on arrival.
Great evening meal and breakfast.
Excellent location with good parking.
Would definitely stay again."
"With so many negative reviews regarding the size of the room, we paid extra for their bigger room. On arrival we received a friendly welcome and were shown to our room. The entrance to the rooms was having a mould problem, so an extractor had been installed and reed diffuser to mask the smell.
The room itself was comfortable, clean, no damp smells which I feared on entry to the block. As expected from previous reviews the bathroom was tiny but that wasn’t a problem… we were here for the location. We had cocktails and a meal, food was good, albeit breakfast a little expensive but set us up for the four falls walk.
Got back to the room exhausted, jumped in the shower, hopeless...a trickle of water, the unit itself dripping, got it to the temp, next minute it’s cold, adjusted it, got it back to temperature, next minute it’s scorching. Can hand on heart say I’ve never been in a more useless shower and defo not what you want and need when you’re tired and achy.
Bed time… bed seemed comfy enough, but it soon became apparent, not all was well. Any slight movement, squeak, squeak. It all became too much and we moved the mattress on to the floor. The lady who was cleaning the rooms next morning had a look at the bed and tried to fix it and tightened the metal frame… fixed…alas not…another night on the floor. When booking a room to stay, all I ask for is a decent bed and shower…this accommodation fell way short and despite its perfect location. I would not recommend it as a base."
"We have had a wonderful short break in Brecon staying at the Borderers. Our host Gail was wonderful. She was knowledgeable about the area, always helpful with our little queries. Nothing was too much trouble. We had everything we needed in our room and the breakfast was excellent, with plenty of it.
The car park was a little tricky to manoeuvre in but with Gail’s help it was ok."
"Nice room but unfortunately very poor parking. They were digging up Brecon high street which made it a bit inconvenient, but it was planned maintenance so just one of those things."
"Reception staff sullen; restaurant staff overrun, service slow.
Food quality poor.
Hotel looks good but otherwise nothing special. Shower awful - hot then cold, lost pressure during my shower.
Grounds have some interesting photo opportunities for weddings but disjointed and tacky for any other time."
