The room was very welcoming in the Milking Shed. It was warm and had a few lamps to create a soothing ambience. The little kitchen was in a lovely cupboard so the room was very tidy. There were chairs and tables that folded away. The bathroom was clean and well-equipped. With a warm towel rail. The tv had Netflix and catch-up channels. The grounds are stunning.
What a lovely lace to stay. Just before Christmas made a family en route stay all the more festive!
Lovely owners keep the place very clean and have all the conveniences expected.
Our family of 5 loved it.
A lovely stay at the Beeches. Cosy room with everything we needed, and dahlias from the garden!

room was lovely. On arrival he said key inside & walked off. no info or welcome pack just map of site.Googled bus times & asked him where to wait. Said he said there are no buses.Being in a black spot with no signal I was stuck. No offer to phone and book a taxi So did a long walk into town on crutches. I have osteoporosis & Avascular Necrosis of l.hip, why I’m in pain &can’t weight bear.waiting for a wheelchair &surgery. This was my 1st solo trip since b4 2wks in hospital &my partner got me a taxi all the way there The walking increased pain &had to keep stopping.I’d forgotten phone charger &lead & reading glasses (have chronic memory loss) he reluctantly lent me a rubbish pair.TV only let you watch terrestrial channels, kept sticking on 9 and pixelating. Netflix I could only see what someone else was watching still pixelated.I have a prolapsed bladder & wear pads until surgery.couldn’t get to the bathroom in time&wet through my pads & 1side of the bed (there was a waterproof sheet underneath). I did my best to clean it with water & soap and slept on top of the single bed-didn’t wet it.Tried tourist info, library left my phone there2 charge gave me glasses from lost property!Station going home discovered had left phone!A kind soul lent me theirs Got just abuse: place is a mess, bed is wet,you slept in both (so?) and hung up.Everyone in town knows he’s very rude and mean. Def a car needed &stay somewhere else, gr8 town😉
Fantastic base for our trip to Longleat. Plenty of off road parking and Pauline and Nigel made us feel very welcome. Water and milk was ready in the fridge on our arrival and the microwave and toaster came in really handy. There was also the supercar storage facility nearby that do food and also the George pub about 15-20 minutes walk away which was a lovely walk (albeit in the middle of a heatwave).
Fabulous quirky B&B - we stayed in one of the separate self contained converted farm rooms (The Potato Shed) which was just perfect for us! Welcome was warm and friendly (even though it was gone 8pm and outside of the 'usual' check in time stated) and we had plentiful tea, coffee, and fresh fruit in our room. We had a small fridge whichever as a hug ever onus, super comfy bed and lovely bright bathroom with a full bath which was perfect for relaxing in after a day's cycling the canal paths! The hotel and B&B also has pet ponies, dogs, ducks and chickens who all roam about and if they like you, they'l come and say hello! The games room with free pool, ping pong and outside badminton was also a great find. Put simply, we loved it!
When I arrived the room smelt of damp and was cold, the heating was on so I thought it just needed to warm up. When I returned in the evening the room was still cold and smelt of mold. I was planning to stay two nights but the next morning I found mold in the room.
I saw the owners and they explaind the rooms had been flooded and should have dried out....
I decided to find somewhere else to stay for the second night.
Despite an offer to provide a 'refund' in a couple of days two weeks has now passed.
We absolutely loved our stay at Cow Byre 1 — it surpassed our expectations. The accommodation felt homely with lots of thoughtful touches, and you can really see the care that’s gone into both the property and the grounds. Our son especially loved the games room and used it every day.
It was quiet, in a great location, and we still felt a real sense of space and privacy even though it seemed fully booked. We felt it was very good value for money.
The hosts were fantastic — nothing was too much trouble. We’d happily recommend to family and friends.
Ended up staying in COW BYRE no.1 so this review is NOT for the room originally booked in Beeches Farmhouse.
Property showing wear and tear eg tiles coming off wall in the shower.
Not possible to stand up beside bed in main bedroom because of restricted headroom in eaves.
Without doubt the owners have paid a great deal of attention to the needs of the guest. The finer details are apparent in the room and everything is thought through to ensure guests are comfortable. This commitment is also eviden details at breakfast, beautifully presented and the cooked breakfast is of exceptional quality. Thankyou for your commitment to making sure everything is just right for your guests.
This was a perfect stay for our family. There was space for the four of us and kitchen and washer/dryer. The girls loved seeing the animals.

Simple, pleasant stay. Good location
Nice quiet location, easy to reach Bath or Bradford on Avon. Comfortable and simple room with nice tea and coffee making facilities, nicely fitted bathroom - we stayed in the old dairy room.
There's nothing particularly wrong with this accommodation but I do feel there is room for improvement in many aspects to accurately reflect it's current rating of 5/5.
