Central and cheap in beautiful Bologna

Fantastic location, friendly staff. Very dated room decor but seemed clean. Stayed 4 nights and would definitely return. Two minutes from Piazza Maggiore! Execellent gelateria almost next door.

The property is old building with high portico. The furnishings are old but that is reminiscent of the past and can be charming. The single room was a good size with high ceilings and the sheets and towels all cotton, but the first impression is horrible. The entrance and all common areas have a dreadful, stained carpet that immediately give you a bad impression, maintenance is an issue. Loose floors, broken, missing knobs, unkempt furniture, moldy shower curtains. General impression, poor, unsafe and shabby.

Cheap hotel but for a reason. Very run down hotel. Seemed it could be a nice place with few means. Beds are very hard. There was an air on in my room but not sure how I could turn it on. Seemed scruffy and dirty all around

Yellow, cheap bulbs. Dirty shower curtains. Dirty tiles, with mold. Door keys are from the medieval times. This is no better than a roadside motel. I am extremely disappointed in the hotel, and in Expedia for even listing this. The owners should be ashamed. We stayed in a 3 star hotel in Florence for the same number of days and total expense, and that was leaps beyond what this place is. See the pictures for evidence. Stay away.

The facility service was impeccable. They seamlessly arranged transportation to a hidden gem restaurant in San Giovanni, Osteria del Mirasole, and facilitated my transfer to the airport. However, the cleanliness of the washroom could use some improvement. Overall, my stay was peaceful and comfortable.

AVOID. Booked for 2 nights but checked out after one - they refused to refund us but we were so desperate to leave and lucky enough to find an alternative nearby, we cut our losses. We have stayed in old ‘character’ places before, and don’t mind antique furniture or a dated but cared for vibe. However this property was not even trying to achieve these things! From the start reception staff could barely bring themselves to greet us, the impression then persisted that guests and their comfort are completely irrelevant. The whole place is in dire need of updating and refurbishing. Decor run down and tired to the point of falling apart - carpets and upholstery dirty and frayed, shabby furniture, general bad smells from bathroom drains, badly-installed laminate flooring buckled with damp and revealing ancient carpet underneath. Non-existent basic room facilities. We were bitten by insects in the night - having encountered bedbugs before we were fairly confident it was not mosquitos as the bites are quite distinctive. Up until this happened we were prepared to stick it out and chalk up to experience but it was the final straw, we packed and got out as soon as we could. On announcing we were leaving early there was no curiosity from staff as to how our stay had been or why we might be bailing out. We were shown their latest bedbug inspection report which appeared to be a box ticking game. Sad that a fine old building has been run down like this - it could be great.

This is not anywhere near a 3 star hotel, more like a 1 star. The property needs a huge overchaul. The carpet in our was disgusting, with stains everywhere. The bathroom was at least clean but had an odd odour. I’m sure the cleaning staff do their best with what they have. There wasn’t a fridge or coffee pot to be found. The bed was ok with fresh linens but an old bed cover. No one uses them anymore because they are too hard to keep clean. The only redeemable feature was the location as it was right in the centre of town.

Staff was kind , we only stayed for one evening ,however the toilet ran the whole night and the tank leaked everywhere. The bed was horrible you could feel the springs in the mattress dig in to your body every time you moved. However it is located right in the heart of Bologna so exploring the city was nice and easy .

Hotel palace charges way too much for a 4 star hotel. The rooms are very shabby with old carpeting. There is a 4D movie theatre next door and you will hear and feel the vibrations of the movie. The floors are wooden and the walls are paper thin and you will hear everything. The bathrooms are very tiny and old. There is no air conditioning. I got a fan but the fan made a lot of noise. There is also no mini fridge. However it is very conveniently located near Piazza Maggiore and is near all the major sights. The hotel is about an 15-20 min walk to the train station. Overall it is fine for a one night stay out of convenience but it’s not good value for your money.

WOW!

I'll just say this.....I prepaid for 2 nights. I left after the first night. I didn't even think about asking for a refund.....this hotel needs all the cash it can grab. I'll ask my accountant if I can't claim my lost prepaid night as alms for the poor. Yes, THAT bad! I should have believed all the other reviews about the dirty carpet, loud cinema noise, unfriendly welcome.

The staff overall were friendly and helpful. The room was fine. Everything is a little outdated, but clean and basicaslly comfortable. The shower head fixture in the bathroom was broken so one has to hold the shower head the whole time. The location is excellent and in that sense good value for money. But a major problem is noise: the hotel is right above a cinema and even on the third floor, the sound and music blasted upwards into the rooms until about midnight. The walls and ceilings are also paper thin, meaning one can hear people talking in other rooms and walking overhead or in the corridor outside, until late at night and then again early in the morning. Not for light sleepers...

L’hôtel est bien placé dans le centre historique. Des que vous entrez dans le hall vous vous rendez compte que l’hôtel est dans son jus original. Very old and tired. Very tired. The carpets are wrecked, the wall paintings need a new paint job. The worse was the family room with 3 beds. The room is set apart from the others, in the fire exit stairwell. The lock is with an old key and you need to lock the door or it can open by just pushing it . Inside the room there is no standard aircon. We had a standing aircon with its big air pipe’s exit on the window ledge. As a consequence you have to live in the room with the window opened! Day and night when you have 30 degC outside at night! The pipe made of thin plastic was cut in 2 places so you were receiving inside the room the strong hot air from the aircon together with the cold one ..impossible to sleep at all sweating like crazy. Then the bathroom door was perfectly joined on the door frame on the top half. Bottom half had a large space between the frame and the door. The carpet was so old looking dirty but was obviously vaccumed. This hotel will be a fantastic hotel they refurbish it. Until then don’t book any 3 beds room.

The room was clean and large, with a nice balcony. The location of the hotel was perfect, right off the main square on a quiet side street. The staff was perfect. Friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, a good breakfast. For these reasons I gave it four stars. The problem with this hotel was the room itself. It seemed not to have been renovated since the 1950s! Creaking floorboards throughout, an ancient bathtub and old plumbing, a flat bed. If you can ignore this, you will enjoy your stay.
