AVOID: Bait and Switch
This property is run by La Manada Apartments, which apparently owns a couple of condos in Academia Aprtamentos. I learned a bit too late that La Manada does a terrible job managing their rentals. The listing indicates that if you arrive after 10, there will be different checkout procedures. It wasn’t until I was mid flight day of my checkin that they sent a message saying no one is available to help with checkin after 9. Given our international flight landed at 8 pm, there was zero chance we’d be there by 9, but they provided an emergency number for any issues. We got there at 9:15 pm, and security for the building (NOT affiliated with La Manada) took our passport info and we went upstairs to learn that: room we were given was not as pictured (it was VERY dated); bathroom was filthy, walls had splatter marks and stains, mold and mildew around the sink, and no toiletries; kitchen backsplash was dirty and had a booger on it; sofa was a tufted pullout that definitely had bodily fluid dried and crusted in the center tufting and in the arm; exposed wires and cables next to the sofa; sliding glass door to the balcony didn’t latch, let alone lock, so zero sound proofing OR safety bc the balconies to other units were connected; there was an old cracker just sitting on the shelf in the closet; multiple hairs in the bedsheets. All in all: GROSS. I contacted the emergency and main lines numerous times, but got no one. I wasn’t really able to sleep bc I didn’t feel safe PLUS the noise.
