"Rooms a little tired particularly the bathroom. Staff very friendly and pub food not bad at all. Very strange that breakfast was from 9.30am, which was too late for us as we had a business meeting in Swindon. "

"Arrived to be greeted by a group standing in the front entrance smoking weed. No one from the hotel asked them to simple move a few meters so all areivedcdidnt have to walk through it. Was woken up by dealing going on at 02:15am outside my door. There meals overall are not cheap, but the cheapest option at my point of stay was roughly £12 - but they then charge you £7 to bring it 1 floor which isn’t really 4* service. £6 to park your car a day and no guarantee of a space. The staff were always polite - but that only masks the reality here on somewhere more 2* with 4* prices "

"No chair in room. Light switches impossible to reach from bed. Light bulbs too dim to read by. Carpets torn and not vacuumed. No phone in room. No tissues in room"

"First, you can't check in till 5pm. Second, the shower is small and slippery when wet. When I mentioned that I'd nearly fallen twice and it needed a non-slip mat, I was told can't be done as this would be an admission that there is a problem. Plus, the light in the bathroom is on a motion sensor timer and kept cutting out leaving me in the shower, in the dark. It sounds comical but with the slippery shower base and total darkness, it wasn't funny. I had to open the shower door and wave my arm to restore light. Also, it says that shower-gel, etc, is supplied; One small bottle of hand soap. Third, the TV didn't work. Weak, or no, signal. The response of the manager on being informed: "It's probably been knocked by a previous occupant and anyway, we're replacing all the TVs with smart TVs." Fourth, they don't serve breakfast. Fifth, and worst, you can't leave by the front door in the morning but have to exit by a door that opens onto a flat roof, and descend to ground level by means of a spiral staircase which should be condemned as a safety hazzard. It's sturdy enough, but the treads are so small that I had to descend one careful step at a time as there isn't enough tread to allow the normal motion. Anybody really frail would have to descend backwards and supported from below. (I know whereof I speak having been a fireman and a builder subject to building regs.) Beer = excellent. Food = okay. Hotel is run in a way that serves the convenience of the manager, not his guests. "

"We stayed in one of the lakeside rooms which had a beautiful view. Room was slightly cold because of this but reception did provide us with an extra heater. It was my husbands birthday so they provided a gift and prosecco which was lovely. Food was great, lovely staff and clean hotel. Book ahead for the spa to avoid disappointment. "
