Nice stay in Blantyre

The hotel has good staff that give good advice and about where to eat and security - which is an issue. It is not recommended to walk outside for westerners due to streetboys. The hotel itself is a 3 star hotel, in european standards. A bit run down, but clean. The restaurant on 5th floor, Vincent, is very good.

The hotel rooms need to be cleaned especially the bathrooms and my bedding was dirty has stains on it. The restaurant smells stuffy you should look at airing the restaurant.

Great hotel for a small meeting

I stayed at Sunbird Mount Soche for a whole week and we held a 2 day business meeting (with 37 attendees) in their attached conference center. It was overall excellent experience. Although the lobby is not impressive, the hotel really grew on me over my stay - the staff were lovely, there is a good gym, nice backyard and very good restaurant. The staff taking care of the rooms were lovely and attentive, and the rooms were clean. The WiFi was not great, but I do not beleive there is fast consistent internet anywhere in Blantyre. I would definitely stay there again.

The hotel was comfortable and the staff extremely helpful at all times. The executive floor with all it's extra's was also very good. The gardens are beautiful. The pool looked very inviting, but as a disabled person using a wheelchair it is impossible to access the pool area, very disappointing as many disabled peoples main and best exercise is swimming-myself being a regular and strong swimmer as long as access into the pool area and the pool is available! The other major problem is that using credit cards to pay on checkout is a disaster, both times our cards were declined, we called Citibank in Dubai the issuer of our MasterCard who informed us that there were ample funds available, and they had not received any transactions from Malawi-if they had they would have immediately approved the transaction if you want to consider yourself an International hotel, this needs to be sorted out. 6

NIce hotel, staff and restaurant

We were there for nearly a week to work and appreciated the comfortable studio, the friendliness of staff, the nice bar and outdoors area and the very good restaurant. We thought we would get tired and eat elsewhere eventually but we never felt the need. The menu offers a great variety and pretty much everything we tried, including some interesting local dishes, was very good.

Great hotel, but really needs upgrading

Nice hotel, great location and friendly staff. I particularly liked the bar area, outdoor garden area and the gym in the wellness center. However, the hotel really needs to be updated with better internet connectivity for business travelers. The a/c in my room also did not work properly. One other complaint is that the windows in my room did not complain all of the way, so mosquitos were able to enter.
