Reasonable room with good shower. Breakfast was a bit odd, the waiter refused to acknowledge that the pain au raisin was frozen in the middle which was all a bit strange. If stayed again, we’d just avoid breakfast.

Converted house near to the main road into Bedford. Room was large enough for my purposes and had everything I needed. I think the hotel is trying to be something it isn't which is a luxury stay, when it's more of a standard guest house. It was quiet and comfortable for my stay. Small contretemps with the staff regarding the photo ID, of which no reminder was made on the main note from Expedia. Apparently it was squirrelled in one of the many e-mails sent by the hotel. Not sure I've time to read everything they send me, why isn't it on the main note? The situation got a little heated and Verve are making a rod for their own back here. They even said "this happens all the time", That's because it's not a legal requirement in the UK and Premier Inn, Travelodge, Holiday Inn, Mariott or even the Ritz don't ask for this. If it's good enough for them to not have photo ID, then it's good enough for Verve. I dread to think what their electricity bill is like as well, with lights on everywhere all the time. My empty fridge was on in the room as well as an alarm clock - they must burn through the kilowatts. Outside it looked like Crystal Palace - I've never seen so many pointless lights on it must disturb wildlife and their neighbours. Turn it off!

Breakfast was very limited, but cheap. Restaurants were not open which was annoying because it was a major factor in choosing the hotel. I had no car and after travelling all day and being a single female I didn't fancy walking into town for food, therefore had to order takeaway. However, room was adequate and bed was very comfortable so at least I slept well.

Everything was great, we loved the zebra painting in the room and it was a lovely bonus to have a full fridge freezer too. We would recommend for anyone needing to visit for a show at Esquires, as it's really close.
