You do have to either drive down to the bottom parking or take the shuttle down to ski. The bus stop is very close to the condos which was nice. And of course the view was ...

Popular places to visit

The Orchard at Altapass is the only orchard that I have been to. Each time I go to Crabtree falls I try to go to the orchard, but this is not always possible because the store is closed during the winter for offseason. I also have never actually gone apple picking, but instead go inside the store and buy the already picked apples. The majority of the times I have visited, there is live bluegrass music. Different kinds of preserved canned foods line many shelves in the store. Homemade fudge is sold, as well as ice cream. During the fall parking can be rough, since it is peak leaf and apple season. This picture captures the vastness of the Appalachian region in my eyes: the life present, the rich colors, and the visibility of the mountains far away. I can recall the sweet smells of the many trees producing apples. #appalachianechoes

Nice place for family. Look around the museum of all the gems type they got. Go there early for the mine tour and nice beautiful cave in the back with waterfalls.

Newland

The smaller falls at Linville Falls in North Carolina, USA. The hike is pretty easy and you get great views of the mountains and the falls. You are not allowed to swim in that refreshing looking pool unfortunately but the views are nice! There is a nice parking lot where you can leave your car and there is no fee to hike the trails (as far as I remember).
