The owner of the hotel is very nice and helpful. So was Lily, one of the employees. They both assisted us with many aspects of our stay in Barcelona. However, Vanessa, an employee, was very unpleasant to deal with. She did not smile once or speak to us politely at all. She was very condescending and made it clear that she did not like us and did not want to assist us in any way. We did not look forward to talking to her after we checked into the hotel, but remained polite. When we checked out, the owner graciously allowed us to keep our bags in the hotel so we would not have to carry them all day. When we came back for our bags and asked Vanessa for them, she handed the bags without saying one word. Not even a “thank you for staying with us.” If not for Vanessa, I would rate the hotel more highly.
As for the hotel, it is very quaint and cozy and you can tell effort went into decorating it. I would be careful with the standard rooms that we accidentally picked, as they are very small. We were able to switch rooms the second day to a “superior double room” which was much more comfortable.
