"Warning to anyone with a service animal, know your rights under the Americans with disabilities act. I was told I have to let them know I have a service dog BEFORE arriving.(THAT IS FALSE! )
She told me I must have a certification card that shows my service dog is trained and registered. (THAT IS COMPLETELY FALSE!) The Americans with disabilities act says that a hotel\motel can NOT ask for ANY certification of any kind.
She told me they put people with service animals in specific rooms that they designated for animals. (That is a violation of your rights!)
The ACT says that people with service animals MUST be put in the same rooms as people without service animals.
I'm the 5 minutes that I spoke to her, she violated so many of my rights.
Any of the things she said could be grounds for a lawsuit against them for violating my rights as defined in the Americans with disabilities act.
The next morning when checking out I spoke to the gentleman that owns the motel, and told him what happened, he was much easier to talk to and we discussed what transpired.
Know your rights! Service animals are not pets, they are federally protected medical necessities. Besides that, our stay was great. "
