The bathroom was clean, but the shower curtain was not long enough to keep water in the shower and the floor got soaked. There’s no bathmat. "We are a commercial traveler with over 3000 nights in hotels. We haven’t been in a Motel 6 since we came across the country from Ohio to California in 1962. Yes, their rooms actually were $6 a night back then. We paid $60 for our room at Merced Motel 6. That included a $6 upgrade fee to get a ground floor room. We only booked a single since we travel alone. However, all their single rooms are on the second floor. So much for “accessibility”…Only if you pay more… Our double room was so small you will bang your ankles on their plywood platform bed frames. The desk chair was so low it would fit a child nicely but not a medium sized adult. We added two pillows from the bed we didn’t use to be able to get to the right laptop height. There is no Kleenex box or coffee maker. We brought our own amenities. Our room was less than 100 feet from our car so bringing in our luggage was easy and quick. The A/C worked very good and cooled down our room (on an 88 degree day) quickly. The foam mattress slab on plywood bed was actually comfortable. Being a lazy Sunday night our motel area stayed quiet all night long. Check in-check out was simple and fast. The Motel 6 personnel simply did their job. No more – No less. There is a Black Bear restaurant across the street and various fast food franchises within walking distance. The best news about this Motel 6 is that they still have smoking rooms. We will stay here again when in the Merced area."

"Check in was easy as well as parking. The room was a little stuffy when we walked in and it took a little bit to get rid of the lingering odor after we turned the AC on. The bathroom was a different story. It reeked of mold. I opened the window for a little while to make it a little more bearable. The outside of the shower definitely had visible signs of mold, and the floors were not cleaned properly. I noticed quite a few strands of long black curly hair throughout the bathroom floor and in the shower (I have straight red hair). The shower itself also felt very flimsy. The floor kept making a weird popping noise when it was stepped on. The bed was also not that comfortable but overall, we had a bed to sleep in and a place to shower however, don't think I'll be staying here again."
