"We arrived late and booked the room through Expedia to save some money. We got a king room with a kitchenette. That was great because we had frozen items in a cooler that needed to be placed in the freezer overnight. The bed in the room was very comfortable, including the pillows. I used the shower and noticed that a prior occupant had placed part of a false eyelash on the wall. This wasn't noticed by housekeepinh to remove it. I wouldn't have noticed it either, if I didn't use the shower. Otherwise the bathroom was clean. The chair next to the desk needs to be replaced cause the vinyl on the headrest and on the seat was peeling off and clearly noticeable as big patches were down to the cloth with bits on the floor. We didn't use the desk chair. The couch was nice, but could use a good cleaning of the cloth. There were visible stains. Otherwise the room looked newly remodeled as the walls were painted and floors looked clean and fresh. The breakfast was plentiful and had a good variety. There was fresh fruit, juices, waffles made to order, sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs, along with biscuits and gravy. Other than the tired desk chair, and a few stains, it was a good stay and I would recommend this hotel. Possibly the other rooms have been remodeled completely with newer furniture. Also they should remove the older loveseat on the second floor next to the elevator. It looked like it was left over from b4 the renovation."

"The stay was decent. When we arrived late at night, we had to wait several minutes for someone to even come out to the desk. It was annoying since we were tired from traveling. We are a family of 4 and stayed in a room with two double beds. There were 2 wash cloths, 3 hand towels, and 3 bath towels. There was one tiny (single-use) bottle of each: shampoo, conditioner, and lotion. The pool was nice, but the pool towels were gone by the time we got out of the pool and needed them. The free breakfast was great for our kids, but not good options for the more health-conscious adults. Make your own waffles, yogurt, packaged muffins, and all kid cereal (froot loops, cocoa pebbles, etc). We were in Gurnee to go to Great America and do some shopping, and for that, the location is ideal."

"This place is a gem. I wish we had been able to access the roof top. There were good dining choices along with a small town vibe. I did struggle getting an early morning coffee on a weekend. If you’re not up at 6am walking your dog, this will not be a problem for you. The interior design is very lovely. They aim for hygge and accomplished it! It’s worth spending the extra $ to stay here. I found myself sitting in the lobby for no reason other than it is really pretty. It drew me in and I celebrate them for this!"
