Room was very clean and the staff were fantastic especially Maria in the restaurant! Great location! The only issue was trying to get the hotel to respond to messages thru Expedia, did not answer the telephone, and did not respond quickly to email. I tried several times to contact staff to confirm we had a room with 2 twin beds. I would have provided a 5 star rating if messages had been responded to timely.

Great trip

Got a last minute deal and was then upgraded. Very comfy bed, quiet room wifi worked well , refurbished shower hot and strong. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious . Minimal staff tried hard and very friendly.

The location in ambleside is absolutely ideal. But was disappointed with the room which was dusty. Put the fan on and dust blew everywhere over the bed aswell. The staff were very friendly but on the last morning they were clearly short staffed and there was a 45 minute wait for breakfast. The breakfast both mornings wasn't the best either, Cold hash browns. Hoping this weekend was a one off as we have stayed in the inn collection hotels before and it was a lovely place to stay.

Had a few days in The Lakes while visiting family in the UK and attending the Oasis concert in London. We could not have been happier with The Ambleside Inn - totally excellent stay. Great location, wonderful staff (thank you) and although no onsite parking there are lots very close to the Inn and the short stay (30 min) drop off is right outside. Highlights: clean and pretty well kept, despite it being super busy (it was July!), with a really good breakfast and a nice cozy bar plus Pub Food in the evenings. Lots of excellent places to eat in town and all very walk-able and of course it's an extremely picturesque town / setting. Everything in the room worked well and we were pleased with the amenities. Be warned: NO ELEVATOR (aka lift). So if you've got a ton of international size cases it's certainly a challenge getting to the higher floors. Would we go back? Yes; very probably. We have stayed elsewhere in Ambleside, and the lakes, several times before, but the location, staff and amenities would probably mean this is the best place we've stayed. Greatly appreciated the welcome and had a really good visit. Thank you.

Dog friendly stay

Nice location room was ok but very warm. The did provide a fan in the room which was nice but noisy. The sick drain off was very slow so must have been blocked but as we were there for only one night didn’t bother us too much. The shower was good with good pressure and temperature settings. There really should be a small fridge in a room that gets this warm especially when small milk capsules are left on the side by the window. The evening meal was ok although the tables could have done with a better clean as were a little sticky. The staff were lovely and it were great with ours and all customers dogs.

Everything you need for a nights stay

Nice room to base ourselves from for the night before the Fred Whitton. Basic room with everything you need, only complaint would be that the room we had was facing the street and the Saturday nightlife was pretty loud till late walking past the front of our room that kept waking us up, appreciate this is outside of the hotels control though so not their fault but this is just a work of warning if you are after an early. Ight for an early start.

Lovely hotel, although sometimes waiting time to be served was a little frustrating - standing at the bar at breakfast with nobody else there and one member of staff at the other end of the bar on their phone isn’t a good look.

Excellent stay

Very pleasant stay. Very dog friendly. Staff very helpful. Food excellent. This hotel is in the centre of Ambleside. Only small negative is the charge for dogs of £15 per dog per night.

Stayed for 3 nights with our dog. Food at the pub was nice and we were able to book a table for each night we stayed at the pub for the food. Room was a decent size for what we needed as most the time was spent outside. The room has a bowl for water for the dog, and a towel for them. Tray for boots next to door to put them to stop mud in the room as well. Room cleaned each day and service was great.

I liked the location, which was excellent, right in the centre of Ambleside. There are plenty of shops, especially hillwalking type shops nearby. It is possible to walk to the lake, but for me it was a long walk. There are plenty of buses to go to the lake, to Windermere, or Bowness-on -Windermere. The hotel has a dog-friendly bar, serving nice meals, with nice friendly staff.
