"The basic rooms at the hotel are pretty rundown. If you want to enjoy your stay go for a family room with a €25 additional charge per night. The parking is €20 per night but unless you have an electric but unless you have an electric car, it’s a nightmare to park in there, especially you come with a large car. The breakfast choice is okay but not superb.They don’t have room service, you can call the restaurant and they may send you something, but it’s up to them. I hated the toilet paper because is the supercheap recycled type. I also hated the fact that you are given a beach towel every two days, it should be daily. I have to say that the hotel is more a three star hotel than a four."

"The hotel is absolutely beautiful. It is like stepping back in time for the grandeur but it has all the modern amenities. The attached Beach club is also excellent. Beautiful setting, lovely loungers and if you fancy the food you won't be disappointed. Both the hotel and the beach club staff are excellent and so helpful. Don't forget to look for the hidden viewpoint in the hotel and enjoy the roof top terrace for the stunning sunsets"

"I'm sure you have had many a holiday where your expectations have been sky high, your need for a bit of luxury and to be well looked after has reached breaking point...and the place you book after weeks or months of research falls annoying short. I'm delighted to say this was NOT the case here! The location, amenities and service surpassed our lofty expectations and we are very pleased we came. Plenty of bars and eateries around the compact complex make it easy to get waht you need, when you need it. The rooms, corridors, and all communal areas are completely clean and there's an air of sophistication and style everywhere you look. Bottom line...unlike some holidays, this place looks and feels like the pictures. If you're in the fence, BOOK NOW! Side note, it was both mine and my wife's birthdays while we were there. We didn't highlight this to anyone at the resort. However, upon returning from a day at the pool in the early evening, we found we had been gifted a bottle of bubbly, a lovely card and a piece of cake! Whether they got this is for from our ID's or perhaps the cleaning staff saw we had displayed our own birthday cards in our room, but this attention to detail and unprompted kindness was hugely appreciated. We don't like going to the same place more than once. But I'm quite sure that we'll be making an exception here. Five stars."

Palácio de Tavira, a Small Luxury Hotel of the World

"It’s very central to the restaurants and coffee bars - they are on the same town square. It’s a lovely old building but very modern and clean inside. On arrival the staff were very friendly and smiling and showed us around the property. The room was cleaned very well every day. The breakfast had a great selection, with freshly cooked food and was available from early til 10:30 Would definitely stay at this hotel if in Tavira again."

Vila Gale Tavira Resort Hotel

"The hotel is brilliant, it had everything we wanted. The outdoor pool was fabulous and clean with plenty of sun loungers and umbrellas,. The hotel has an indoor pool, a gym, and other facilities such as sauna and spa. Overall, the hotel is clean and excellently presented, our room was spacious, we had a decent size balcony, the room cleaned daily if desired with fresh towels. Very happy with the room size and bathroom. The room had a TV and AC. We were greeted with very friendly staff daily, the breakfast buffet was amazing, the variety of food on offer was great. We would definitely recommend The Vila Gale Tavira Hotel and we stay there again. "

Residencial Marés

"We booked a room with a terrace. That meant being on the third floor and no elevator. The trade off was that we had a beautiful view of the river watching the passenger ferry come and go. The staff was very helpful with recommendations for eating and activities. The hotel was the perfect place for us to relax at the beach after spending 10 days driving the entire length of the N2 from North to South. We would stay here again."

Ozadi Altura Beach Resort

"Great location as near to beach and restaurants. All rooms have sea views and are clean with comfy beds. They gift you a free beach bag and hat for every room. Very nice touch. Hotel do provide shampoo, conditioner, body lotion and body wash. However the body wash is from a dispenser and did not get topped up when it became empty. Breakfast was all right, it is repetitive and only wish there was more hot food options."
