"The hotel was being renovated. Our room was in the process of updating and was not ready to be let out. It had clean bed linen, but needed a thorough clean not just top dusting. It was understaffed with the few staff trying to do everything and failing.
I could list all the faults which are the same as previous reviews. The main problem was that all the electric appliances were run from a multiplug, including the kettle, the TV and an old convector heater brought into the room as the radiators didn't work.
Unfortunately this was a last minute booking and we were unable to go elsewhere, so had to stay. To be fair the staff were pleasant and helpful when we asked for anything and did sort out an overcharging issue discovered when we arrived home but they were totally overwhelmed with trying to renovate and run a hotel at the same time."
"We arrived a couple of hours before check in, but we're welcomed by friendly staff who allowed us to leave our luggage. We were able to check in an hour earlier as the room was ready. Room was beautiful, homely and everything we needed. Bed and pillows really comfy. Bathroom was amazing with a rain shower, toiletries and fluffy towels and towelling robes. Breakfast was really lovely and the two ladies serving breakfast were warm and friendly. We ate in the restaurant one night. Food a little pricey, but well worth it for the great quality of the meal and again great waiting staff. We travelled by train, but there is on street parking outside. If ever in Alnmouth again would not hesitate to book here again. Thank You for a lovely relaxing stay."
"No food served at all, kitchen closed. We discovered this on our arrival. Bar closed at 10pm every day, when the front doors were locked and we had to use fire escape to get back into the hotel. No sign of any staff on site from 10pm to 12 noon next day and doors still locked between these times, therefore the fire escape was the only route we could use to go in or out every day. Difficult to navigate the fire escape, especially when checking out with luggage at 80 years of age! Staff attitudes left a lot to be desired - I would not recommend this hotel to my worst enemy! I’m surprised this hotel is still available to book."
"Room was much better than I expected. It’s been updated recently. Carpet in rooms is still dated.
Unfortunately the bar was closed for renovations so we couldn’t experience the full value of staying over a pub. We were notified ahead of time."
"This hotel is unique and absolutely lovely! The owners were friendly and helpful and so we're the ladies in the dining room. The breakfast was delicious..We would certainly stay here again.. One thing to be aware of is that the hotel is right by the A1 so the turning for West Cawledge Park is directly off the A1."
"This inn was a pleasant surprise. We didn’t know what to expect with the name, but it was great. We stayed in a room for six, the beds were comfortable and the restaurant downstairs was very convenient. We were able to order dinner and bring it up to our room. Breakfast was delicious! The only negative was no Air Conditioning, and it was warm in the room. They did provide a fan and we probably would have been fine opening a window because it was cool outside, but we didn’t want bugs to come in and there were no screens."
