Beautiful historic hotel. A real oasis in a busy dirty city. Restaurant on the roof had a beautiful outlook and fabulous food. Staff all tried very hard to provide good service, but with a definite Egyptian slant. Complimentary "early dinner" snacks a real bonus much appreciated. Multiple little incidents make me grade this 4 rather than 5 stars especially given the very high price.

The building is from the colonial era and quite nice. Guest room is spacious but the immediate environment is not desirable, especially for our room which has a so-called partial seaview. Service is too slow, from check-in to fixing any problem, the latter may be related to an old and slow elevator. The restaurant on the top is upper scale and offers a sweeping view of the harbor.

The property is beautiful and well kept. The management is very responsive to issues and took corrective action promptly. The area is within easy walk to landmarks in Alexandria. Noise from street is acceptable. I will visit again.

Time Travel in a great location

Elegant old hotel, that feels frozen in time. The views of the sunset and the sea from oceanfront rooms are magnificent. Easy walk to the Greco-Roman museum and other sites. Fun to stroll the Corniche or take a quick taxi ride to seafood restaurants by the citadel. Where I stay when I'm in Alexandria.

The location is excellent very walkable to many different places. Get off the beaten path take a walk up to the Catacombs it’s an eye opener to see how the people of Alexandria really live. Eat at one of the local restaurants not the tourist spots. Had a great lunch at Gad they have many locations throughout Egypt.

This hotel is a beautiful old building from 1902. It has been well preserved and was a wonderful place to stay. We loved the old escalator, the rooftop terrace restaurant and having booked a ‘direct sea view’ room we had a fabulous view from our hotel window of the sea and the historic Fort Qaitbay. Service was top notch from the moment we stepped through the front door and the food was excellent, too. We highly recommend this hotel.

It's a fun vintage hotel. They have a cage elevator like in an Agatha Christie novel (lt runs incredibly quiet without any chatter). Rooms are nice with high ceilings, beautiful sheets and very clean. The top floor offers a lovely breakfast with a view and the location is very convenient to getting around the city with the tram to the library, jewelry museum just outside the door. It's extremely close to the Roman Greco museum and opera house. Service in the hotel is very very friendly.
