「Good location and great owners」

「Clean, safe, great sheets. I had everything I needed in my room. Not expecting to have to climb a flight of stairs. Instructions were clear and easy to follow. Good location for historic district. I would recommend. Never saw any staff. But that was explained when I made the reservation.」

「This is our second stay at The 1857, and we’re already discussing when we can visit again. The rooms are spacious & clean. Comfortable beds, great ambiance & friendly staff.」

「Bathroom floor grout was completely molded. Room was incredibly humid and all the fabric surfaces were damp. The sofa in the room was tattered and stained. Sheets and beds were clean, bathroom was clean other than the molded grout. Breakfast was good. Overall property probably needs a refresh.」

「Need maintenance done first room air conditioner problem that leaked water into room mildew and mold starting and 3 electrical outlet out and changed rooms the second room sink problem reported all to front desk so hopefully it is taken care of.」

「The photos make it look like it’s fairly new and well taken care of. It is anything but. It is extremely dirty. The elevator doors didn’t look like they had ever been cleaned. There were stains all over every floor we went in and on the drapes in the room in addition to the carpet looked so dirty you didn’t want to take your shoes off. It was horrible. The mini fridge didn’t work. We told them about it and they did nothing to try and remedy it. Would not recommend!」

「It's an older property but, that doesn’t make it bad. My bed was clean and comfortable. I felt safe as a female solo traveler. The man at the desk was very nice.」

「Staff was rude for no apparent reason. There were no disagreements nothing was questioned and seemingly no reason for the reaction we felt we received anytime we engaged the staff (except the food staff!)」
