Located between St Louis and Springfield, Missouri, Meramec Caverns has some extraordinary cave formations. There are 4.6 miles of caverns tucked away in the Ozark Mountains. Artifacts from Pre- Colombian Native American Indians have been found in the caverns and it is ruptured that outlaw Jessie James used them as a hideout. Also Union troops camped out inside the huge opening at the beginning of the caverns

"Took one look at the room and left. Absolutely awful. Description and pictures do not come close to the reality of the place. The cabins were falling apart, the quality of the bedding was awful, there was no space in the room, the air conditioning unit wasn’t effective but was really loud. Couldn’t get out quick enough. It was the complete opposite to how it was described. "
