  • The huge castle of the 11th century, which was often besieged and survived for centuries, was rebuilt in the 18th century as a baroque castle and now serves as a museum and tourist attraction. Znojmo Castle was originally a wooden structure built by Przemyslid Bretislav I, Duke of Bohemia, and built around 1080. It was intended to replace the old castle, which was located through the Granice Valley, as part of an attempt to strengthen the defense. along the Dye River against the Austrian attack. From the new castle you can observe the river valley and the surrounding area. However, in 1140, a wooden castle was besieged and destroyed. By the end of the 12th century, the castle was reconstructed, this time in stone, and included a deep moat. The entrance to the castle was guarded by an octagonal tower called the Robber’s Tower, which collapsed due to neglect at the end of the 19th century.

Charming and comfortable stay

I enjoy staying at Hotel Katerina while in Znojmo. It is comfortable and clean. Depending on room, it can have quite nice views of the beautiful scenery. The self check-in kiosk experience could be daunting to some but I managed through it.

New hotel in very good area. That is where the good news end. Check in process is self check in terminal. Which is fine, as long as the woman that is sent by the property doesn't rush you through it. Apparently this place has wellness-unfortunately in our 4 days there we did not find where it is, how much it costs or if you can use it. There was absolutely no information on anything! Not even on check out process. Absolutely nothing. I have no problem with manless hotels-but you need to have enough info for guests to deliver some service.

Go for two nights at least!

If they offer you the park view, take it! I thought they were talking about a city park when they asked me but listen, the view is on a national park on a gorgeous valley with a river at the bottom. Take the park view! Period. The Ac was quiet, the room was spotless, the bed was really comfortable, that town is just so quaint and beautiful. Our only regret is that we didn’t stay longer than a night.

Nice little hotel in quaint town

Very nicely appointed and clean hotel. Friendly and helpful staff. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend to others. Only two small things that could be improved 1) start breakfast service earlier than 8am (we missed it every day since we had to start our day early). 2) don't charge for in room coffee

Небольшой , но очень комфортабельный отель.Великолепно расположен, вплотную к историческому центру, но в тоже время в тихом месте и с великолепным видом на природу.Мебель, отделка, чистота на уровне 5звезд.Вкусный завтрак .На рецепшене русский менеджер, очень доброжелательный, снабдил всей необходимой информацией для ознакомления с окресностями.

Excellent hotel & private wellness

At Christmas time we spent 3 days with our daughter in Znojmo, which will be unforgettable for us. Not only the Christmas atmosphere, the sights we've visited, but also thanks to the excellent service at the Katerina Hotel. The hotel has only 8 rooms, each with a different color shade, but cozy and luxuriously furnished. Our one named Tramin, was also exceptional with its two windows with a beautiful view to the castle and the nearby fortification. There was cosmetics and a hairdryer in the bathroom, in the room bathrobe, TV, bar, coffee maker. We were surprised there was an orchid in the color of the room on the table, at night we relaxed on the comfortable bed. We also ordered a private stay wellness with fruit and champagne, which we strongly recommend. Breakfast was served in the form of a buffet on which were served, except for classic continental food / salami, salami, salmon, cheese, fruit, vegetables / and excellent pancakes, 2 to 3 spreads and yogurts that are always freshly home-made by the golden hands of the staff. The hotel owner had a professional and kind behaviour, he was receptive and willing to answer to our inquiries. We thank him and the staff very much and we are happy to return to Znojmo and hotel Kateřina. We certainly recommend this hotel. Erika and Marcela
