For the price, it was not bad. The picture of their pool area on the website is misleading; it is not nearly so smart, but rather homely (not necessarily a bad thing) and the loungers etc are somewhat shabby looking. Having said that, the pool is well-kept and clean, and as I wake up early I was aware of someone out there every morning sweeping and cleaning.
I had a studio apartment right next to the pool. It had a good, comfortable bed, a basic kitchenette and a small shower-room. You might call it a wet-room, because after a shower there was nowhere dry to step out to, unless you opened the bathroom door, stood in the kitchen, and hoped that no-one passed by the small window! The little bathmat placed between the bathroom and kitchen did not look very clean. The other very negative thing about the room is that there was sometimes an unpleasant smell in the kitchen/bathroom. I didn’t bother complaining because what would they do? I suspect that other people had complained, as there were two plug-in air-fresheners in the room.
It’s a shame, because the owners were friendly enough and there was a relaxed feel about the place. Also, it is a stones-throw from a tiny but sandy and sheltered beach, which was lovely. I bought a snorkel and was able to see fish on a calm day. Right above the beach is the Achillion restaurant, which I would recommend – the food is better than at the Villa Corali, and you can sit overlooking the wonderful views of Kefalonia.
