Very nice abd helpful staff. Just a 10-minute walk to Borobudur temple and there are many local food stalls nearby at night. I have a really relaxing and enjoyable holiday here. You can have a morning swim just walk out from your room, and then have a great breakfast in the breeze... Far exceed my expectation!

Great for a night ot two. Beautiful pool. The shower is open to sky outside. But it is very open. Bugs might bother some. Very accomodating staff. Room lock box was irrepairably broken.

This property has not been maintained. The hot water never worked, had to change rooms. Even after that the hot water was intermittent. a lot of flies in the dinning area. The only good thing was the staff. It was way too over priced for the property. Expedia should not promote this property. Never send your customers to this property

Lovely property

This property was wonderful! Clean and lovely rooms and a gorgeous pool. Staff was BEYOND helpful and that made a few issues we had (not hotel related, ATM related) very easy to deal with. We unfortunately could only stay one night, and upon arrival that was something we immediately regretted. We hope to get back to see more of this area and will definitely return to this hotel.

An oasis of peace & tranquility with great service

The Shankar is about a 60-80 min ride from Yogyakarta Aduscipto airport. They will send a car for you by prior arrangement (cost IDR.300,000, about $22, £17). The driver was careful and negotiated the busy roads with skill. On arrival, guests are met with typical Indonesian hospitality, check in is efficient and they show you to your room. Each room/suite, whether poolside or ‘outer tier’, is separated on both sides by a walled terrace. All are located on the ground floor with low step onto the terrace, which leads into a spacious room with a colonial feel but modern conveniences. Rooms are spacious and pleasing, with a comfortable bed, simple but modern bathroom with wet area, good a/c and excellent Wi-fi reception. Staff take a breakfast order each day for the following day, with a choice of western or local dishes. The choice is fairly basic but perfectly adequate. Lunch/dinner dishes are also available, served with soft drinks, ’mocktails’ or local beer. For the more adventurous, there is a restaurant frequented by local people, serving dishes at a fraction of hotel prices, just metres to the right, direction Boro. The pool area is very pleasant and was little used during my visit but appears to be safe for children. Borobudur itself is an easy 10-15 minute stroll from the hotel. They are also happy to arrange tours to Borobudur and other sites. I recommend if you’re planning to visit Prambanan also, that you buy a joint ticket, saving IDR70,000 ($5, £4). I recommend

No hot shower

There is no hot water comes out. I asked the staff to solve this problem but they are not supportive at all. There were many mosquitoes at bathroom and come into bedroom too. I won’t come back this hotel.

まず、3時過ぎにチェックインしようとしたら、前の客がレイトチェックアウトだからと、1時間ぐらい待たされました。 レストランは雰囲気はよくて、食事も美味しくいただきました。ただ、蚊が多いです。 ビールのストックが少なくて、2回目でもう無いと言われました。お国柄なのでちょっと残念でした。 朝はサンライズツアーの後、ゆっくり見て回って戻ったのですが、朝食ビュッフェはあと1時間大丈夫と言われたけど、補充されてなくてあまり食べるものがありませんでした 部屋はシンプルで綺麗でした。ただしシャワー掛けのネジが緩くて固定できませんでした

Séjour parfait

2 nuits passées dans cet hôtel pour visiter les temples de Borobudur et Prembanan. L'hôtel est très sympa avec ses bungalows qui entourent la piscine et la salle de bain partiellement en plein air. Le restaurant est très bien et le personnel très serviable.

空港への迎えをお願いしたら、日本語を話せるドライバーだったので、色々な情報を聞くことができた。ボロブドゥールのサンライズツアーを申し込んだら、マノハラホテルまで送ってくれて、チケットの購入までやってくれた。帰りは歩いてホテルまで帰ったが、今は帰りも迎えに来てくれるようです。この他にも色々なリクエストを聞いてくれたので、とても助かりました。ただ、シャワーでお湯を使おうとしたら、毎回お湯が出てこなくて、その度にフロントに電話して対応してもらった。晩御飯の時に、ビールを注文したら、冷たいのがなかった。朝食は種類が少なくて、今ひとつでした。

We stayed only one night at Shankara Borobudur but it was fantastic - beautifully landscaped, beautifully furnished room and bathroom (!), and tastefully decorated. The food was great and the pool just in front of our room. The location is fantastic for a sunrise Borobudur Temple tour, which we did - fantastic and worth getting up at 4:30am! I do not think you can find a better place so close to the temple.

Treating myself

I went for a solo trip and it’s close to Borobudur temple. I loved swimming and relaxing in the pool area after sightseeing. The room service was good. I think staff should give a heads up on when room service ends at check in. Also, recommend just offering tea and coffee in the lounge area, I know these are available in the room but sometimes to create a social environment and simple pleasure offering something like that would be great.

前もって送迎にプランバナン寺院によっていただくように予約していましたが、返信も早く、キチンと事前確認も頂け安心でした。 サンセットとサンライズツアーも申し込みましたが、 フロントでキチンと対応していただき、送迎もスムーズにしていただけました。 チェックアウト時だけ、パソコンを使えないスタッフの人しかいなくて 急いで、若いスタッフの方が、時間外で対応してくださってるようでした。 施設は、古いのでちょっと匂いが気になりました。 バスタブとシャワーが水しか出なかったので、 フロントに言いに行ったら、すぐに対応してくださいました。 シャワーとしか言わなかったので、バスタブはガスボンベが 別なのか水のままでした。

リゾート感あふれるホテル

メインの通りに面していたので、タクシーのドライバーにもホテル名だけ伝えれば大丈夫でした。スタッフの方々も丁寧、かつ、フレンドリーでした。サンライズツアーも申し込めます。時間通りにモーニングコールもあって、すばらしかったです。朝ごはんはスープが絶品。何度もお代わりしました。部屋は、ベッドルーム以外は外(屋根あり、外からは絶対に見えません)で開放感あり(笑)ただ、雨期で湿度が高いので、トイレの度にムワッとした熱気にやられるので好みがわかれるところかと思います。クローゼットも外なので、日本から持ってきた冬物を置く気にはなれなかったです…。プールの水はきれいですし、庭もしっかり手入れされていて写真をついつい撮影したくなるほど管理されていました。また泊まりたくなるリゾートでした。

Peaceful design, breakfast is lacking when less than 8 rooms are filed. We stayed 2 nights, the buffet after 1st night was excellent; the custom-made breakfast after the 2nd nights (less than 8 rooms occupied) was quite bad. My pecel breakfast had ants inside the fried egg, I had to ask for the pecel sauce and krupuk. Coffee was great though and the staff was doting and quick to correct when asked.
