Everyone and everything is great. Zalfa at check in was par excellence and also helped in making train reservation for me. The area is bustling with stores, live music bands, food, horse carriages and what not. Excellent area to stay in. Zalfa also helped in extending our stay for one more night. Highly recommend.

Novotel is a very attractive modern and clean hotel, located right off Malioboro, and in close proximity to the train station and the Malioboro mall. My room was very appealing and comfortable, and the staff were so friendly and helpful. I would certainly stay here again.

The hotel was fine. The room was good value. Breakfast was OK. The mall next to the hotel has few interesting shops but does have a couple of useful supermarkets. Walking around is hard with all the motorbikes taking up the road and footpaths but that is generalised and not specifically the hotel's issue. All in all reasonable value for a quick stay.

Staff was friendly and helpful. They promptly fixed a problem with our aircon. Good breakfast buffet. The rooms are not super soundproof, and we could hear the family next door quite late at night. The light switch situation was a little mystifying. Walkable from the train station if you can figure out which exit to use (we did not).

I mention names of employees here, hoping they do get recognition,--nobody solicited me for this review. I stayed at this hotel for five days and was pleasantly surprised by how much it offered, especially for the price. While the building is older, it’s very well maintained, and the rooms are clean with comfortable beds, crisp white sheets, and towels. I had one of the more affordable rooms, but the large east-facing windows offered stunning views of the city and mountains. If you do nothing else, visit the rooftop pool and restobar on the 10th floor—even if you’re staying elsewhere. The views, breeze, and relaxed atmosphere make it a destination. The staff up there were exceptional—shoutout to Andre, Made, Upay, Rhe, and Bhuda. Friendly, honest, and passionate about what they do. I even met the GM and the Chef on two occasions—not drinking, but personally checking in on guests, which says a lot about their commitment. Breakfast is worth including in your booking. There's a wide selection, an outdoor smoking area, and a relaxed setting. The Wi-Fi worked seamlessly for five days straight without needing to log in repeatedly, which is rare. Security was strong and consistent, giving me peace of mind during my stay. A big plus was the list of recommended local restaurants provided at check-in—extensive menus, great food, and nearby. Ironically, the service at those restaurants didn’t match the high-quality service I got at the hotel. Location-wise: Great

From check-in to breakfast area to check-out, the service staff are all horrible. 1. Unattentive front desk staff that do not even take notice of you. 2. Breakfast service staff that argues with guests. I asked for the manager to attend to me. Waited for half an hour, service manager was nowhere to be see. 3. Upon checking out they asked how was my stay, i told them it was horrible and they just thanked me for my stay. No service recovery and they just waved me off. I have been to the Novotel chain multiple times but this Novotel is the absolutely worst! You are definitely better off going to other hotels in the area. Because of the horrible experience I had here, I might stay clear of the entire Novotel chain. I would advise other travellers to think twice especially for this hotel. Highly disappointing!

The let down for this property was the cleanliness, on arrival there was a cookie in the power socket next to the bed closest to the door and the bathroom also lacked cleanliness. The nooks and crannies of the toilets can easily be cleaned with some bleach and elbow grease, and same with the shower. I imagine the housekeeping staff do not get enough time to do so which is a shame as the facilities outside of the room were very clean and well maintained. Breakfast was good and had a large selection of foods. I would have liked to see food items get refilled more frequently as the pasta always seemed to be empty. The staff in all areas were very nice. I got very sick and they called for a doctor to attend the property for further assistance (check up cost about 350k IDR and medications about 450K IDR) which were paid directly to the doctor and no extra cost was applied by the hotel staff. On the same note it’s unfortunate the state of the bathroom was not very inviting during this time as the grime made me feel even more sick and queasy on sight. The hotel staff called to check in on me the next day which was appreciated. My partner spent a lot of time at the rooftop bar and loved the live music and bar tending staff and would recommend spending some time up there if you do stay here.
