Naqalia Lodge
8/10 Good
"Lovely family who run the place, but quite fun down. Bungalows were built 20 years ago and have had no renovation.
That said everything was functional. No cell signal except in 2 spots by the beach Very intermittently. No ac, no hot water, no locks for the doors.
Food was basic but good and plenty of it.
Reef shark feeding snokel activity was absolutley amazing.
Hiking trails do not exist. Guide needed to hike.
I was there alone for one night, then joined by a couple the next.
Excellent place if you want peace and quiet"

Nabua Lodge Hidden Getaway
10/10 Excellent
"Great spot for a relaxing getaway. It's in an incredible location and the staff are absolutely fantastic. It's a bit rough and the amenities are minimal but if you don't mind that kind of thing I can't recommend this place enough. "

Oarsman's Bay Lodge

"What an amazing place! The staff feel like, no are family. These people are the friendliest most thoughtful people. We arrived just after cyclone Irmil, so the weather was not perfect but the stay was. Vinaka!"

"When we arrived our aircon wasn’t working, at 31 degrees it was a necessity. They did not have another beachfront of the same category available, so they wanted an extra £50 a night( we were there for 7 nights) to put us in the next category. We refused and after a long discussion they relented and put us there for 4 of the nights. I have to admit both properties were shabby and needed an upgrade. The superior property had a hot tub in the outside shower room. It was dirty with about 2in of dirty water with 2 crabs in. Not a good welcoming start! It was impossible for me to get into the water along the whole length of the resort. They have built a protective wall with lots of slippery rocks to clamber over to get into the water, which is full of grasses . A lot further from the resort is a beautiful beach, sadly, it was too far for me to walk. You cannot use it on a Tuesday and Wednesday as it belongs to Blue Lagoon Cruises and they have it for their exclusive use when the ship docks there. The breakfast that was included was the worst I have had on 9 weeks touring. On the positive side lunch and dinner were the best I had in
Fiji, there for nearly 4 weeks. The snorkelling from the boat was amazing, they were extremely considerate and caring. The staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly with Oscar, the bartender, the star of the show. Needless to say , we left the island early, without a refund!"

Mantaray Island Resort

"Staff and management who always go the extra mile. Our visit could have been a potential disaster. I am in my 70’s with heart problems. My only criticism of the management is that it states nowhere that the restaurant is up a steep incline with steps then to climb. After my first visit, for me it was impossible .The staff, then surpassed themselves. Their answer was to bring the meals down to my husband and I. Everything was laid out to perfection, served by Peti ,in a courteous manner. Valentines night was stunning, a beautiful table with flowers, decorative serviettes and lots of love. Everyone came to chat, staff and fellow travellers alike. ‘This was one of 4 Fijian islands we stayed on and a place where young and old exchanged stories and enjoyed the relaxing friendly space. A wonderful place to visit. Thank you to everyone for making our stay so special. All our love Marie and John

Korovou Eco Lodge

"This lodge is not up front about letting you know there is a hefty mandatory per day food charge. I booked through Expedia expecting just lodging but found out after booking my room and the ferry to take me there that there is a non negotiable $20 tender fee and $80.00 op per night food charge. There is nothing on the Expedia site about this and Expedia was not helpful. Unfortunately I booked 2 days prior to arrival and had a non refundable return ticket via the ferry so could not change. There is limited power, no eSIM data and no wifi so I had to keep the booking. Like other island resorts they really need to state up front, before you book, the full cost of staying there. This is an all inclusive not just a room booking as you are lead to believe in Expedia. Expedia is aware an to date has not updated their site. Just be aware the cost is a lot more than advertised. "I’ve wanted to visit this place for a long time and finally made it. Although it was a bit of a dodgy start arriving late because of weather, we were met with a beautiful Fijian welcome. I will admit I was a tad disappointed originally being put in a tired bure (no 3) surrounded by renovation work, however we were moved the following day into a Deluxe Bure (no 10) which was amazing and much nearer to the beach and pool area.
I loved the outdoor shower although it could do with extra toiletries here as the Shampoo etc are fixed indoors. I also enjoyed having a personal hammock and beach chairs that I could retire to with my book.
Kadee and her team were absolutely delightful and we ended up having the most amazing 8 nights at this resort. Staff are so friendly and treat you like family. Thank you to Omi, Wati and Manasa (he is very respected being one of the founders) who were always so warm and friendly.
The food options are limited, but it’s incredible 5* food and beautifully presented.
I really enjoyed the relaxing vibe here except for the odd guest who unfortunately spoiled it by having loud video calls and playing annoying tik toks in public. Although there is a small note at the bottom of the menu, this is not easily visible so a polite verbal mention during the arrival transfer may be a better option to keep noise at bay
We also had the same music all week which all the guests noticed and found rather funny so a few more CDs would be good
