We had a wonderful time at the event evening. The staff are amazing, so friendly, professional and very accommodating. The food was excellent. Would definitely recommend.

Friendly pub/hotel. Only slight issue was the heating was turned off in the rooms until we arrived and then it took a long time to get warm.

A lovely property, nice room and hot shower, good bed. However the floor boards in my room made a noise every time I breathed and my room was very cold unfortunately which was shame because it could be a really good place with nice welcoming staff and great breakfast

Easy check in, just what we were looking for as had a family booked meal get together nearby so perfect location for us. Nice to have the option of a bath and a shower. Slept comfortably!

Great stay thanks
Really good food portions and has a huge menu, you could stay for a year and still not get through the whole lot! Room cleaned really well daily and shower was good. Plenty to do as there are car meets and entertainment etc. Will stay again if I’m the area.

Good basic hotel
Basic hotel very inflexible with check in. Has a good bar which closed very early. Comfy bed and the breakfast was good. A little bit out of the way, but convenient for this trip.

Nice friendly place to stay
Room was comfortable, good bed and shower room. Leaving bottled water with the tea making facility was a welcomed bonus. Restaurant/pub meals were good and reasonably priced. All staff are praised for outstanding friendliness & helpfulness, enhancing the enjoyment of the stay.

Stayed in room 8 and it was lovely and clean very hot room but they gave us a fan clean tidy excellent service staff very friendly the only thing is the shower is not on the wall but the bath was lovely and hot would definitely stay there again

Second visit, didnt disappoint
2nd time here whilst visiting family. My son got married here 2 years ago and it was fantastic, Sam the wedding planner was brilliant and we said hello as there was an open day rhis weekend. We had an issue with the 1st room alloction due to mobility problems, low ceiling and bath but requested a reallocation to which Mark (the manager) was more than accomodating. There was a band on Friday night which was great, but we felt it ended too late at midnight. Even though we enjoyed we would have liked to go to bed earlier but knew that we wouldnt be able to sleep above the bar with the music. After a long drive of 5.5hrs that day, the late night took its toll on us for the weekend. An 11pm stop would have been preferable. We ate there Friday night and the food was lovely. We also had Sunday dinner at the restaurant in the conservatory which again was lovely and reasonably priced. However, the sound does carry and we and others did struggle with the echoing noise. Mark dealt with complaints adequately but as he said he cant do anything about the noise. Overall a great long weekend and will return.

Room 8 unhabitable until 9:15 because of noise from kitchen extractor facilities, Shower facilities inadequate unless you are four foot high. Shower not attached to wall; no shower curtain either. Very disappointing for a site of potential.

Rettenden Lodge was quite adequate, being clean and comfortable with courteous and helpful staff. However our room did not have wi-fi and we could only access it in the bar. As we were in an outside room at the top of an outside staircase this was inconvenient. The music in the bar was extremely noisy when we arrived but the manager lowered the volume when we asked. However, if there had been more people in the bar at that time I'm not sure he would have done so if the other clientele liked it that way.

Our room was upstairs above the kitchen. The floor boards creaked so bad that I woke the other half up. Could not have shower as no shower curtain and no riser for shower head. We came down for breakfast to be told that we had only booked single occupancy (which we hadn’t) and had to pay extra ! We didn’t. After a while the man said, sorry but he’d made a mistake. I suffer from anxiety which hadn’t helped. Later that evening we went up to our room. The music was so loud you couldn’t think. It was coming out of a speaker outside, just beneath our bedroom door. Couldn’t hear tv or phone calls we were making.

An enjoyable experience. Staff friendly, very obliging. Plenty of outdoor space for children to run round and play while adults sit and eat, drink and chat. Far enough away from the A132 that noise was not a problem.

Great dinner. Disappointed that there was no soy milk at breakfast and staff couldn’t be bothered to go to the nearest shop to get some. Room was basic but comfortable enough and very clean.

The location is not within walking distance to any shopping centers. If you stay at the hotel, you need to have a car, or you need to get a cab.

Enjoyable and comfortable stay.
Pleasant stay, small but cosy room. Basic needs met with comfort and character. Staff were polite and friendly and were very engaging during breakfast service. Breakfast was enjoyable. It is in a nice, quiet location, didn't have any issues with noise from pub but it was a mid-week stay.

A second stay. We had a larger room this time, a double that also had a single & sofa bed. Lots of room. Everything you could want in a room. Highly recommended. We had dinner & breakfast. Will return.
