My stay here left me feeling at odds for several days, and even paranoid enough to continue to check for bed bugs the week following my stay. There were few options to change hotels or even rooms at the time of my stay, so I chose to stay in the uncomfortable situation.
The door key they gave me did not open my room door, which could only be opened by a maintenance key. At the time, this should have been the only red flag I needed to know I should move on.
In the room, I flipped back all the covers, which were in a state that I ended up pulling out my own sleeping bag and sleeping pad to set up for the night. I also ran a wash cloth over every surface; it was pretty brown when I finished wiping down the counter and tabletop in the room. The bathroom provided similar results, and eventually, I just cleaned everything I could.
At this point, a maintenance worker came to look at the door, which I still had not received a key for. After some discussion and explanation of the issue, there was no resolution; I would need to inform the front desk if I wanted to return to my room. So I did not leave the room all night. Again, had I had any other options, I would have likely gone, as this exchange had also revealed that there was blood on the door handle and my discomfort settled in for good.
This was my first stay at the family hotel, and as a Yukon resident, I know I will not be using this hotel or recommending it to others.
