This hotel & Spa is absolutely amazing, the staff were so attentive to our needs, I had booked this hotel for a treat for my family which they so enjoyed, the grounds are beautiful and the food is cooked from the best quality, yes, the spa is not huge when you compare this to other spa facilities but this gives this hotel spa the advantage of giving you space to enjoy the spa experience, would I travel to this hotel again, most definitely, worth every penny.

Great hotel and staff were very good,my only issue was my room juniper had the extractor style unit from the kitchen right outside my window and was noisy up until 10pm and started again at 6am very loud.

Great place with fantastic staff.

This is a super little hotel hidden away from everything, an excellent place if you want to be alone. It’s an old building but doesn’t suffer from it. The staff are all excellent if a little forgetful in the restaurant. The only thing which lets it’s down slightly is the food. It’s not bad by any means, and some things are lovely, but it’s not quite 5*, the breakfast in particular was poor. I’d definitely recommend a stay here though.

A lovely hotel -

We had a lovely stay. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room was a good size, lovely and warm and good lighting. The breakfasts were lovely and we had two bar meals whilst we stayed, both very nice and not overly expensive. We would definitely return to the hotel.

Great stay

Stayed the night before we did the Emmerdale village tour. So great location for that! Fabulous hotel, impressed with the complimentary drink on arrival, nice touch! Also very friendly staff, lovely clean room, was nice to go into and it feel warm and cosy. Got there too late to enjoy facilities but all looked lovely. Fabulous breakfast, and nice touch with the breakfast bag when we left.

Historic House offers luxury experience

The staff at Wood Hall are great. Very friendly, helpful, attentive & kind. Our room was comfortable, but not the best we've ever stayed in. Remember the mansion was built a long time ago, so renovations have to work within historic building protections. Whether breakfast or dinner, the dining experience is lovely.

We stayed here for my birthday 4th - 6th April and we had such a wonderful time. We had a double room which was spacious clean, and came with a lovely a view over the Estate. The breakfast was wonderful with lots of choice. I especially liked leaf tea which you dont get everywhere. All of the staff provided us with fantastic service. Little touches such as a hand signed welcome letter, a happy birthday note with a box of chocolates left for me on my birthday, and a bag with water and snacks for the journey home, all made our stay extra special. Thank you for such a wonderful stay.

A very warm welcome and all staff very pleasant and helpful. Bedroom very tired. Carpet threadbear in some areas, wardrobe side. Generally very dusty, alongside fridge and that cupboard in general. However , enjoyed our stay and will return if in the area.

Excellent caring staff, From Check in to Sorting final bill. Outstanding customer service. Comp Proseco or Tea / Coffee on arrival. Room (29) Excellent, great bed, view, bathroom and shower (twin sinks). Spa good, just one wet steam room but spotlessly clean. Pizza dinner in bar very good, Excellent G&T. Breakfast included and outstanding. Even given a snack bag with nibbles for journey home. No hesitation in recommending this excellent hotel. Well Done..

We loved the quiet location , every member of staff we spoke to were fantastic & couldn’t do enough for us. Food fabulous. And the hotel even had laminated sheet for 3 different walks of different lengths around the property acreage. My wife loved her treatment from the spa. Only slight issue was around 2-4.30pm at busy times in spa there isn’t enough loungers or space & only place to sit is in spa reception. Wasn’t a major issue as we redressed & went for a walk around area then came back & it was fine .

Really lovely hotel but catering is a bit hit/miss

The location is lovely, the outside of the building is lovely, our room was lovely, the gardens are lovely, the people are all lovely, the spa is lovely. However … We had three meals in the hotel; one evening meal; one breakfast; and, one lunch. The service for the evening meal was quite poor, the food was not great (for the price), the service was extremely slow and quite poor (we asked for a glass of water six times and it didn’t arrive by the end of the meal). I think there was a problem in the kitchen. It would have been better if they had shut the restaurant and only served bar meals. Subsequently I was quite unwell. I had informed them I was gluten intolerant and I think one of the ingredients contained gluten. I was quite unwell the following day. We didn’t eat at the restaurant again. We had a bar meal in the spa, which was fine. We had breakfast on the last morning. When we arrived, there were no staff anywhere. A queue formed and eventually the guy at the front of the queue went into the kitchen to find someone. After that there were about eight staff serving. We could hear them chatting in the kitchen, so really needed some management. It isn’t a very cheap hotel and we expected better.

Step back in time for oldcworld standards.

Stayed on 2 seperate nights in one week. Returned for 2nd night it was so good. Felt like we were minded like family. Left a bag behind and when i returmed next evening the receptionist offered me a cup of tea. I had driven a good distance and here was a person who could read how to treat and look after a guest in an empathetic way. Each and every staff member was polite and went over and above. The food was delicious. Breakfast freshly cooked to order. Lovely pool and not overcrowded. Came away feeling refreshed and reassured that old world standards are still alive.

The property is in extensive grounds which are great for walking and bird-watching (we saw a Red Kite flying around the woods) The service was very attentive without being too much. The dining choices were excellent. The only slight issue was the cooked breakfast on Sunday was cold (not an issue on Friday or Saturday morning.) Overall, we'd be very happy to recommend this place to you and we'll be back soon.
