The property is absolutely gorgeous! The room itself was small but the bathroom is huge. The outdoor common areas are breathtaking. Be ready for a small hike up the stairs but the view is well worth it. Highly recommend but suggest not taking too much luggage with you.
For our stay in Cinque Terre we chose the town of Vernazza and had an outstanding stay at the Camere Giuliano Basso. Heed the advice and pack lightly, or plan on leaving a portion of your luggage in a luggage storage area near the main office, as there are many steps to get to the room. However, once you are there the climb is very much worth it. The rooms are actually small cottages reconstructed to resemble cottages from medieval times. The interior space consists of a room with a bed, and then a large bathroom area. It was very comfortable, and the setting made it special. Outside the room there was a patio with tables and chairs, from which you could view the picturesque main street of Vernazza, all the way to the ocean beyond. It was a great place to catch a sunset, and to just relax at the end of the day. We would highly recommend Camere Giuliano Basso if you are traveling to Cinque Terre.
Calling this a Comfort Double Room with a Sea View is EXTREMELY misleading. There is no sea view unless you leave the room and go out onto a common area that you share with two other rooms. There’s nothing comfortable about the room - it’s just a room, barely big enough to fit the bed, virtually no amenities and barely enough room for a suitcase. The bedsheets are hard, uncomfortable, and loud such that you will likely wake your bed-mate if you roll over in bed. There are steep steps to the unit which are not well lit at night (the lights don’t work) and not safe. Communication was poor. They asked for a security deposit when we showed up even though we had already placed one. The only redeeming quality was the shower which was excellent. If this property is going to continue to be listed, they should be required to rephrase it so that it is accurate. Absolutely NOT what was advertised and not what we signed up for.
