沃邦堡壘

Statue of "The Great France" was placed at the top of the fort in the French Alps in 1933. It was intended to commemorate the intervention of the US Army in the First World War and to salute world peace. The fort is now in ruins but offers dramatic views of the town below and the French Alps. #History

Construction of this medieval fort began in the 14th century. The castle sits on a rock high above the Vauban city of Briançon. At one time, the fort was considered the highest city in Europe. Mainly ruins, a well-designed self-guided tour is offered at the fort. #History

Briancon is famouse for its defencive wall built by Vaubon in the early 1700 and is also the highest city in the european union. The fortification have been declare World Heritage Site in 2008 by UNESCO. From Briancon you will also enjoy a beautiful view of the Durance valley and of course some deliciouse french food!
