This is a delightful old inn with an excellent restaurant. Parking in the spaces outside the hotel was free on Sunday until 9am Monday. Downside was we were told their Wi-Fi did not work on iPhones and the shower attachment did not work properly in room 1

This was an excellent find!!! Although not the first choice as a tourist location Valenciennes was a lovely city to visit. A really quirky old building with great facilities within walking distance of the city centre

Old world charm

Quite incredible extremely old hotel full of original features. My room had wooden beams and tapestries on the walls with scenes from the middle ages. The room and bathroom were very large. The restaurant was excellent.

Fascinating place to stay

Beautifully preserved and renovated hotel dating from about 1560, and simply oozing with character. No aircon (unsurprising given the age of the property and probably not possible to retrofit) so it was very hot in our room, but a good fan was provided, so we managed. Excellent restaurant with a good wine list and very good service.

Fantastic accommodation, very pricy food and drink

We were delighted to discover this amazing hotel and enjoy its intriguing renaissance. We were disappointed however to find that there were no modest options on the menu - nor any house pichet of wine! - transforming what would have been a very reasonable bill into an extremely expensive outlay. We will not be able to afford a return visit under the present regime.

Grosse déception

Grosse déception sur ma chambre qui n'avait rien d'authentique comme le reste de l'auberge mais plutot de vieillote. Pas de coffre fort dans la chambre comme indiqué sur les photos, pas de douche mais une baignoire sans rideaux. Shampooing a dispo dans la baignoire mais pas de gel douche ni savon (hormis le savon a main du lavabo) Pas de bouilloire ou plateau de courtoisie. 1 seule table de chevet et une seule lampe de chevet donc 1 seule prise pour charger le téléphone. Pas de volet mais des rideaux blancs non doublés, donc bcp de luminosité le matin. Des velux qui ressemblent à des plaques de plexiglas vissés sur la huisserie. L'ensemble esy propre et la literie reste bonne. Vraiment déçue par cette auberge qui pourtant de l'extérieur et dans les parties communes garde tout son charme. Dommage

Restaurant/repas au top mais ma chambre était très/trop rudimentaire pour le prix. PdJ bien mais sans plus. Les chambres auraient besoin d’un e sérieuse remise au goût du jour, même pas un endroit où posé sa valise, une armoire, obliger de se lever pour éteindre la lumière principale, SDB d’un autre âge.

Je dirai que ce lieu est toujours agréable mais il y a certaines attentions que je n'ai pas retrouvé lors du début de repas ou bien encore dans le frigo de la chambre par rapport à l'année dernière. De plus, trouver dans sa chambre une bouteille d'eau déjà à moitié consommé. Mais j'y retournerai car cela aura peut être changé.
