"Room was dated and did not consider plugins for today's electronics, an indicator of whether a property is trying to stay current and relevant or resting on past laurels."

"Great location in Valdez with walking access to museums, restaurants breweries and the marina. We stayed two nights and never needed our car. Spotlessly clean and well-designed room with an excellent smart TV that allows us to log in to our own streaming accounts. Very nice coffee shop in the lobby. The only downside was the logistics of checking in. We got an electronic form that needed to be completed a day or so before we arrived, which was a pain we didn't need while on vacation. Then we were supposed to get an online key, but we ended up getting a text that a keycard was being placed in a lockbox. It all worked out, but it was a bit strange. There was a woman sitting in the lobby most of the time we were there, but there was no need to interact with her after the online checkin process."

"It’s a good location and the staff was very nice. The issue we had was no heat, the noise of others and we didn’t get the room we thought we had booked. The staff did try to make it up by putting little heaters in the room because the heat did not work and bringing extra blankets. We booked a harbor view room through Expedia, but according to the staff, it was a standard room with no view. Again, the biggest problem was no heat. The staff was very good. I did hear a lot of noise from other guest. I would stay here again though. According to the staff working on the boiler the rooms furthest away, do not have good heat. We were in the last room on the far end so…"

"The setting was beautiful. The grounds were beautifully planted with flowers. There was evidence of construction activity and a blue tarp which is somewhat expected in summer Alaska, but still a bit of an eyesore when staying at a nice place. The interior is slightly dated and the common area is very small making it uncomfortable for more than one party to use the inside common area at one time. This is all in regarding the main house where there are three guest rooms in the downstairs of the hosts home. The host lives upstairs and is very friendly and stays on top of cleaning the kitchen in the morning and replenishing thing like coffee and fridge supplies. Footsteps can be heard above at times - it is what it is. Private bathrooms in each room is a very nice feature, but as stated before, a bit dated, but fully functional. Everything inside felt small and a bit cramped. Outside is very nice though and we enjoyed the hot tub very much, even though the chlorine was a bit strong. The gazebo that the hot tub is in is an incredible piece of wood working construction with massive 12x12 posts and curve-cut 12x12 beams creating a hexagonal timber-frame structure. It is impressive and very serene to sit in and enjoy the lush rainforest surroundings and tall trees. It is a very short walk to the Girdwood townsite by way of a foot bridge across the creek which adjacent to the property. The community bridge is just a short walk down the shoulder of Crow Creek road. Enjoy."
