The historic capital of the Champagne region, Troyes has a charming old town Vieux Troyes, which reveals its rich heritage. Perfectly preserved half-timbered houses from the medieval and Renaissance periods are found throughout the town. Wonderful examples of half-timbered houses are on the Rue Klébert, the Rue Emile Zola, and the Ruelle des Chats.

Beautiful city of Troyes
This isn't one of the best known cathedrals in France but it certainly deserves a visit. Fine gargoyles,wonderful stained glass and the place where the rules for the Knights Templar were drawn up.
The two towers you can see may be all that survives from an older building that stood here during a town fire in the 1520's. One is a stair tower and the other was a series of private chapels. The museum is well worth a visit. One part is devoted to the textile industty. It goes from 18th century looms to machines invented her in the 19th century.Queen Victoria is said to have bought underwear from Troyes.

We had a wonderful stay. What an absolute treasure. The most beautiful room at top of building. Fantastic breakfast. We stayed on a Sunday night so unfortunately the restaurant was closed.
