Really good stay, the room 309 was clean and the bed was comfortable. Nice breakfast, the hotel is a bit dated but all ok. Well worth the money and would stay again.

Lovely hotel

Our room was lovely clean and comfortable and the Bathroom was like new. Staff were very helpful even supplying us with glasses and ice. Breakfast was self-service plenty of choice. Good location close to beach bus stops and only a short walk to bars and restaurants

The overall property dated and tired looking plus looked untidy in places. Aware from reading other reviews that new owners recently took the place over and some improvements had been made. On a plus room was clean and tidy and staff very friendly and helpful. Close to Torquay and surrounding area and places to eat.

The staff were friendly, and the areas were clean, there was a funny smell in the hotel and in our room, probably musty my clothes smelt of it when I got home. The room had plenty of space, very tired and old fashioned, bathroom was clean but again old and needs attention. I do feel sorry for these big old hotels as it must cost to maintain them but they are in a different era now.

The hotel staff were so friendly and helpful. We only stayed for 1 night, but got to try out the free pool for a quick swim before breakast. Breakfast was all you can eat buffet which at £10 i thought was good value. Parking is a bit of a problem, but the building is Victorian era so to be expected. The room we had was in need of a bit of TLC with the decor, but the bed was soft and clean and the ensuite was modern. We will definitely consider staying here again when we're next in Devon.

Very comfortable rooms with great beds and facilities. Yes, a bit dated in terms of furniture and cracks on walls etc but our room was spotless clean. The indoor pool area (watch out fairly deep pool!) and jacuzzi were great and empty when we visited. Breakfast was simple but perfectly good to set you up for the rest of the day. Great location right by the beach and only 15mins walk to the Marina/centre. Would stay again!

Can I just say how helpful and friendly the lady on reception was,we didn’t get her name but know she was Scottish. She made sure we had a suitable room as mobility was an issue and made sure all dietary requirements were sorted out before breakfast, she made check in Quick and easy, nothing was too much trouble. Spotlessly clean room and amazing staff

Stayed here last year so thought we would book again. The hotel has recently had a new owner and where it seemed a little dated (the bathroom) and run down in some areas (mostly outside) this was being dealt with by the new team. The room was spotlessly clean and comfortable with a great view and the service from the staff were amazing, they couldn't have done any more for us. One of my friends stayed in one of the recently refurbished rooms and it was beautiful so will definitely return to see where this hotels new owner takes this hotel with their plans, as it was already a lovely place.

Nice for short getaway, sad about pool & hot tub.

The welcome was a little off at the beginning but seemed to warm as time went by. The room was clean and modern, though probably a little too cluttered with bulky furniture. The hot tub and pool are very dated, unusual and a little grubby. The gardens need some tending to. We did relax and we had a good time. It was handy for walking to the seafront and we found free parking not too far away. The heating worked well.

Hotel itself and staff were great room was clean food was good lovely pool an hot tub better then i was expecting for the price and 3 star rating! The only thing that lets this place down is its surroundings an the building itself could use some tlc its a little run down! The hotel opposite is in disrepair all windows smashe some boarded up the police had that hotel cordoned off an were outside talking all night with loud bangs an smashes keeping me awake all night an waking my daughter i get that this is not the abbey sands fault but i wont be staying again for this reason such a shame hope somethings done about the other hotel!
