We drive around the block twice thinking we were not at the right hotel. Very run down and gives the vibe of not being in a very safe neighborhood.The staff was friendly and the room was clean. However, the fridge was broken. All of the slats to direct the air in the AC were broken so the airflow was cut off. We had to shove toilet paper between the slats to open up the air flow. The bathroom heater looks original to the building. It turned on ok but then would not shut off. That is a severe fire hazard. The rooms have evidence of recent water damage. The curtains were not sufficient to keep the extremely bright light out of the room. Neither of us slept well as it was like sleeping with the lights on.

The exterior of the property looks dodgy and the office is concerning the reception table wasn't secure and the clerk took a very long and odd amount of time in back with my driver's license. The inside of the room I got though was fabulous, clean, comfortable with everything I needed and more.

Worst Travelocity I've ever been to

Our stay started with a tiny office filled with a ton of incense burning, followed by us going into a room that immediately we could smell the mold. It was so bad my friend stayed having her chest tightness up immediately. The office switched us to a different room that wasn't as stinky which we appreciated. The room was NOT clean! To the point when I checked on the fridge before we checked out (habit) we realized the previous guests had left items in there and they were never cleaned out. The floor had a ton of larger pieces of whatever on it so obviously not vacuumed, the shower floor was disgusting so we took a shower with sandals on. My friend is larger and hardly for in the tiny square shower. We knew when the neighbors were showing at 2am compliments of their shower handles squeaking through our closet lots enough to wake up both up. We've both stayed in the barricks and felt less disgusted than we did leaving here. The owner/manager was very nice but tried to write down my credit card number upon arrival because his system was down. Obviously the room was pd for with the conf email he snatched my phone from my hand to read. He was very upset I refused to let him write my card number on the photo copy of my driver's license. I'd rather sleep in the bed of my truck than stay here, we used our own blankets and pillows after all so it would've been better accommodations

Unpleasant

Dingy, musty room. AC barely worked. Was nervous about the safety of our vehicle. Loud motorcycles being worked on in the lot behind our room we'll into the night. Bathroom was ridiculously small. Had to keep the shower door open in order to see in the shower. The carpet was oddly wet in places. Left as quick as we could in the morning. No sign of bed bugs, but I definitely took my time looking. Will not stay again or recommend to anyone.

A better experience

I had a bad experience with this hotel over 10 years before and have not used it since. But this time, with new management, the room was clean and everything worked. The bathroom is dated but could be charming with some work. Price was good, AC was good, and the town was booked for the night.

Lovely person working the desk who checked us in. Only good thing. Room was clean enough but decent price at late booking in a popular and pricer area.

Beware

The room (122) was tiny in a corner of the hotel. It looked like it had not been remodeled for decades. No cold water in sink. Shower stall dirty. Could not regulate air conditioner so had to keep plugging and unplugging. The front office was closed next morning at 9 a.m!

*Room had BED BUGS*

Room had BED BUGS. At first everything looked clean and the room was great. The beds are comfortable but in the night we were all getting ichy and in the morning we found a few bed bugs. So we had to bag everything up and get it cleaned I tried to get someone from the front deck but the door was locked and they didn't answer when we rang the doorbell.

Rooms were old and outdated. Stains on the chairs. Smelled musty and moldy inside the rooms. Said travlelodge on the website but it was not a travlelodge. Paint was peeling. Shower was tiny and gross. Heater outdated and its a fire hazard. Ac did not work.

I booked this property for 2 nights over a weekend because there were several major events going on in the Dalles and I could not get rooms other places. I had lower expectations, but because it was a Wyndham property I felt it would be basic accommodation. We were just looking for a place to sleep because we were part of one of the major events and not planning on spending much time in the room. This expectation was not met. What we found was, filth, smoked out rooms and roaches that made there way into my shaving kit after night #1. Did not stay the second night. When we checked out for the second night I told the manager that the accommodations were not acceptable. He said nothing. Did not offer to help in any way, did even say sorry. We slept in our car.

The good thing was that I had a place behind a locked door to lie down and a private bathroom with warm water and towels. Everything else - location in middle of downtown with trains running through, begrudging and the minimum of service, rooms and amenities from the 60’s, no heat, no power to fridge and microwave and coffee maker, the smell, being given a room that felt like it had been a broom closet when there were others unused. I am mystified as to why Wyndham gives their name to this place - I trusted it and shouldn’t have. I couldn’t leave fast enough in the morning. And how is it possible to have to pay as much as I did for it??!!
