  • Last night we went to a Taoist Temple in Taipei. You can see in the close up picture of people praying how they receive and answer immediately from the prayers. After kneeling and bowing, you throw two "stones" onto the floor. They are both crescent shaped with a sun and a moon side. If they end up both on one side, the answer is NO. If they end up both on the other side, the answer is maybe, or not enough information. If the end up like a ying and a yang, then the answer is YES. I took a moment to pray, asked my question and got a ying and a yang out of the throw. The belief is, that the result comes from within your own heart.

Lovely boutique hotel in Taipei

San Want Residence Taipei is a great hotel. It has the luxurious feel without the attitude. It has a big bath tub. The room is spacious and the staff is very helpful and accommodating. The breakfast can be much better tough. Overall, it is a conformable and great hotel in Taipei.

We had a wonderful stay at San Want. While the room was somewhat basic, we had everything we needed, AC was quiet, beds comfortable and clean, big bathroom. Staff was wonderful and very responsive and kind. Breakfast was delicious! The tea and coffee was just excellent, and we are picky. We will be back when visiting Taipei.

Every comfortable stay. Room is spacious and clean, and there are many buses nearby to different places (we did not use the metro). The service is excellent, particularly the breakfast staffs. Conveniently located in the city center, with easy access to public transportation and within walkable distance to shopping and dinning. The staff is friendly and welcoming, and they will provide you with any travel guidance you need. The room was clean and the bed and bathroom were great. It’s an elegant nice hotel. They provide us free tea and snacks in a lounge. We stayed in a twin room. The room was a quite big. They provide us a gown and nemaki.

The staff and service were absolutely amazing—some of the best we've ever experienced. Unfortunately, the hotel itself feels quite dated and hasn’t been well maintained. Our room was very dusty, the furniture was old and worn. Room was very humind and the air conditioning also wasn’t working, which made it impossible to sleep.

Our family booked two rooms at San Want Residences for almost a week in May, and we were very impressed by the service and attention the staff gave us. The facilities were very well maintained and super-clean, the room and beds were comfortable, the bathrooms well-equipped. We also liked the lobby and lounge areas and the fitness room. Since our mother was celebrating a very special birthday we asked the Front Desk to help us with restaurant recommendations and bookings and they were great. Mr Elie Yu was particularly attentive to our needs. The housekeeping staff were also super-efficient. Thank you, San Want Residences for helping make our mother's birthday trip even more special and memorable. We would definitely stay again next time in Taipei.

Excellent Property In Need Of Update

One of the positive points of this property is its smaller size, with only 8-10 rooms per floor, which means it’s very quiet with no tour groups. The personnel at every level are excellent, very friendly and accommodating. The morning buffet breakfast is very well done for a smaller property. There’s a very nice lounge area on the main floor. The location is good, get a park view room which is directly across the street. The closest metro is a bit of a hike, about 15 minutes away , turn left and keep walking! BUT: the biggest drawback is not the small rooms, which is ok, but they are very outdated, with a lot of scuffed heavy wood pieces, and very limited storage. Great shower, though. With a room update, this could be really nice high end boutique hotel.
