Great simple private room and bathroom for a convenient stay. The hotel is about a 10 minute walk from main station and the neighborhood full of unique little cafes and shopping. The hallway noise is quite noticeable for a light sleeper like me, but that’s my only complaint.
I had a small single room. It was clean but the bathroom was old and no shower curtain. Front desk staff was super friendly. Easy in and out. Great historical location for Dadaocheng, Dihua street, and the Ningxia night market. Less than 10 minutes walk to MRT. It was an enjoyable solo stay.
The property does not have 24/7 front desk. They are gone between check-out and check-in. So no bag storage

Hotel need renovation. Place stayed easily accessible to eat, drink, street walk, night market and metro train 🚆 station. Just for sleep and wash up is ok as most time you are out. Service counter staff are very friendly and courteous

Terrible mattress. One of the worst I've had in any hotel, all over the world. I barely slept the two nights I was there. Also mosquitos were somehow getting into the room, despite being on the 6th floor.

This is an ok hotel if you need somewhere to sleep for one night for a layover like we did. Otherwise it’s not great. The room is pretty tiny and the bathroom has mold in it because the bathroom is essentially also the whole shower, it’s weird. Can hear everything, inside and outside the hotel. Hotel served its purpose.

Hotel will not keep your bags and they don’t tell you about this until after you have booked. So can be very inconvenient if you arrive early and hope to enjoy Taipei without dragging luggage around. It would also be good if it was cleaner.
The hotel is quite worn down and the top-floor room I got was very noisy because of a big ventilation unit on the roof - making so much noise and resonance that it was impossible to sleep - even with earplugs on. I complained at the reception but they did not have other rooms. I even tried to find another hotel but everything was sold out. It basicly ruined my stay in Taipei as I did not get much sleep for 5 days.
We arrived at the hotel that morning and they would not allow us to leave our bags until check in time. We ended up voicing our displeasure and walking down the streets to find a place to have coffee that had space for our luggage. It was the first time that we have had this experience in over a 1,000 hotels that we have stayed at all over the world. It was shocking and not very customer friendly
It had a vintage charm with the bathroom design. But other than that, it was not pleasant to stay at this Guide hotel. There was a strong cigarette smell in the hallway. Smell of wet musky carpets in the room. Smell of onions from the outside streets. We found at least 7 ANTS in the room, on the bed, walls and floor. Dirty stains everywhere, and damaged walls and door. So dusty everywhere, they don't use vacuum to clean, only a lint roller for the carpet. Century old dust on the walls, window blinds and TV. The AC is hard to control. Either very hot or very cold. The bed sheets were not done properly, it would slide off/out everyday. I had to keep tucking it back in. I don't know why but we wake up to greasy face every morning. That's unusual for us.
