Nicolas was the most knowledgeable, considerate host. He assisted with transportation, restaurant reservations, laundry and recommended important sites of Syros. Nicolas deserves 10 stars! The Palazzo is beautifully restored and feels as though you are staying in a grand home. Perfect location above town, breakfast included, water and espresso machines in rooms for your convenience. Quintessential experience in Syros.
Can’t love this hotel more. From the very moment I was picked up from the port and checked in, Mr Roussos ensured it was a five star experience. The hotel is a grand neoclassical home turned hotel. The corridors are exquisite as are the huge stunning double doors entering into a comfortable and tastefully appointed air conditioned room. It was the perfect haven to relax after a full day out. The rooms are well stocked with high end toiletries, lush robes, slippers and a welcome gift of mastic liqueur and loukoumi. Breakfast was plentiful, delicious and elegantly served. Looking forward to returning.
We had a fantastic stay at Palazzo Santa Maria and would highly recommend it.
From the moment Nicholas collected us from the port, the hospitality was exceptional. He is an incredibly kind and attentive host and couldn’t have done more for us – helping with taxis and restaurant bookings, offering recommendations, and even driving us to Ano Syros one evening and giving us advice on where to eat and what to see.
The hotel itself is beautiful – a historic building restored impeccably, combining its original character with modern luxury and everything you could need. Our upgraded room was finished to a very high standard, the bed was extremely comfortable, and despite being only a short walk from the centre, the area was wonderfully quiet. We slept incredibly well throughout our stay.
Breakfast was another highlight: simple but done exceptionally well, with lovely table service from Anna, fresh fruit and yoghurt, cakes, continental options, eggs and freshly made coffee each morning.
A beautiful hotel, wonderful hosts and a perfect example of Greek hospitality. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would happily return.
An incredible stay in Syros, made all the more memorable due to Nicolas and his hosting skills. An absolutely stunning palazzo, extremely clean with so much attention to detail, your eye is constantly captivated! I stayed in the Demetrius Vikelas room (more like a suite) which was impeccably clean with the most stunning of views overlooking the city. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The breakfast is delicious with lots of locally sourced food. Nicolas has gone out of his way to assist me with dinner reservations during this busy period, details of events with specific timings, making suggestions to enhance my trip, even offering to take me to St George's Church up on the hill; one really could not ask for more! If you travel to Syros, Palazzo Santa Maria is a MUST! I would recommend this hotel to any traveller and only wish my stay was longer!
From the moment we arrived, every detail of our stay exceeded our expectations. Our room was absolutely spectacular—beautifully designed with exceptional attention to detail. Every amenity had been thoughtfully selected and perfectly placed, creating a space that was not only elegant but also incredibly comfortable and functional.
The staff were warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming, making us feel cared for throughout our stay. What truly made this experience unforgettable, however, was the owner. His personal and professional hospitality was remarkable. He greeted us with a sincere warmth that made us feel like honored guests rather than visitors. His genuine presence, fascinating knowledge of the property’s history and the local area, and obvious passion for hospitality created a connection that is increasingly rare to find.
This was far more than simply a beautiful place to stay—it was an experience filled with authenticity, thoughtful design, and heartfelt hospitality. It is a place we will remember long after our trip and one we would recommend without hesitation.

I can’t begin to describe how perfect our stay was. Truly the most beautiful hotel I have ever seen. The hospitality is unmatched, from being picked up by the owner, Nicholas, at the port to our toiletries being perfectly organized on a tray when we came back to our room after a long day out. It was such a tastefully luxurious experience. I’m beyond impressed with the job Nicholas has done and cannot wait to visit again in the future.

Our stay in Syros was truly wonderful. The owner was warm, welcoming, and extremely knowledgeable—he gave us fantastic recommendations that really helped us experience the island like locals.
The accommodation was newly renovated with a modern touch, yet preserved beautiful original frescoes that gave it so much character. Everything was clean, stylish, and very comfortable.
We had such a great time that we’re already planning to come back and will definitely be recommending it to our family and friends!
Perfect hotel to stay in Syros. Nicolas, the owner, is a fabulous host and a true gentleman. He is very informative about the history of Syros. The boutique hotel is about a 5 min walk downhill (gentle) to the town where there are lots of tavernas, shops etc.
Nicolas provides lots of useful information about the sights, beaches and restaurants.
Anna provides a lovely breakfast, meats & cheeses, fruit, Greek yoghurt, breads. She also cleans the rooms and is a lovely person.
The room was lovely, the bed very comfortable with a delightful welcome tray. All rooms are individually named and have history behind.
I would highly recommend staying and I would return should I visit Syros again which is very likely. Thank you we should have stayed longer.
