This is a great place to stay, location is wonderful really close to train station and all the places to see are a walking distance from here, the staff is nice even when they're busy they attend to your needs, its clean and nice

No frills, but worth it

Located within short walking distance of the Wynyard station and Light Rail (Bridge Street), the Grand Hotel is conveniently located. The Grand Hotel provided a reasonable, no frills room - suitable for those who are just seeking a place to sleep. Bar areas and eating areas are also worth visiting.

I was very impressed with the quality of this hotel for the price. It was an old building but very well maintained. The room was very clean and comfortable. Even the shared bathroom was not as I expected it to be, it was much better. The food in the dining room for dinner was very enjoyable and the complimentary breakfast was a nice touch. It was in the perfect location for our cruise holiday as it was not far to walk to Circular Quay.

Great location for access to public transport. An old pub….in dire need of a refit and clean. Mouldy bathroom, peeling paint, musty rooms, worn and torn carpets, no hand wash basins in toilets or bathrooms.

Location to Circular Quay and Harbour was great, guest rooms were clean and comfortable and the bathroom facilities were more than adequate along with fresh towels and toiletries provided. Room pricing was exceptional given the location and state of the building. Highly recommended for budget accommodation.

Noisy in both the daytime (construction site opposite) and nighttime (rooms are above the pub, plus street noise till early hours) and windows couldn't be properly shut. Carpets are threadbare and stained, walls are dirty. Clean linen and friendly staff were the only positive (apart from the location which is great of course). I would not recommend for families.

Good for the price!

It’s a very good hotel for the price. It’s located perfectly in Sydney for tourism. The place is pretty worn out, and the showers leave a bit to be desired, but for the price it’s to be expected. I’d would still recommend this hotel to any traveler on a budget that doesn’t want to stay at a hostel or who appreciates their privacy. There is a lot of construction near the hotel, but that’s just the situation everywhere in Sydney at the moment.

The staff were very friendly and informative. The hotel bedroom was clean, but could be improved with maintenance. Same with the shower facilities, which weren't regularly cleaned and also had a mouldy shower curtain.
