Visit Sugar Hill, a tiny community with a population of just over 500 residents. Overlooking the White Mountain National Forest, Sugar Hill combines small-town charm with gorgeous scenery.

Make Sugar Hill your gateway to explore the White Mountains. Nearby Franconia Notch State Park features a large network of hiking and skiing trails winding around its mountain peaks and lakes. From town, you see the iconic Dalton, Franconia, Kinsman and Presidential ranges. You can also glimpse Vermont’s Green Mountains.

Get a taste of local flavor at Harman’s Cheese and Country Store. This iconic red-sided shop has drawn in visitors for decades. The inside is just as special, with locally made foods and unique gifts. Be sure to taste their famous homemade cheddar cheese, which is aged for 2 years.

Polly’s Pancake Parlor is a Sugar Hill institution. This restaurant and gift shop has garnered rave reviews from famous chefs including Rachel Ray and Paula Deen. The eponymous Polly Dexter opened it in 1938 as a way to showcase her family’s maple products. Open the door to smell and taste their original waffles, pancakes and French toast, doused with a generous pour of maple syrup.

Step back in time at Sugar Hill Historical Museum. Walk through the vintage tavern kitchen or investigate the genealogy library. Don’t miss the sleigh owned by movie star Bette Davis, who frequently vacationed in Sugar Hill.

Ski Hearth Farm provides outdoor fun throughout the year. In winter, go cross-country skiing along its Nordic trails. In warmer months, take a class at the Bethlehem yoga studio or stock up on farm-grown vegetables.

Our only feed back is that the room we were shown on the Expedia site, was not the room that waiting for us at the Inn. We had to negotiate a room with half the amenities we wanted, then had to wait an hour for them to prepare it. Disappointed!!

It’s super close to Mt Lafayette...which is a grueling hike...so the inn was exactly what we were looking for after hiking for 9 hours!
